Horror in France as Gunman Opens Fire Near Dunkirk Migrant Camp

Two security guards and two migrants killed- after shooting dead another victim in neighbouring town

At least five people have been shot dead in Northern France as a gunman went on a horrific shooting rampage near a migrant camp.

It comes after a female migrant is feared dead after being deliberately thrown into the Channel from small boat during crossing to UK

Horror unfolded on Saturday afternoon near a beach at Loon-Plage, close to Dunkirk where small boats regularly set off to Britain.

Two security guards were among the victims and police say a 22-year-old French national, identified as Paul D., turned himself in on Saturday claiming to have killed five people in the Dunkirk area.

Police also confirmed the deaths of two migrants who had been planning to head to the UK, while reporting the fifth person was slain in Wormhout, not far from the Channel port city.

It comes after special forces police were first called to the camp on the Mardyck Road soon after 4pm following reports of a lone gunman killing people

The investigating source added that the gunman is first thought to have struck at around 4pm at Wormhout, some 15 miles inland from Dunkirk.

They continued: His car pulled up outside a farm house, and then he went inside and shot a 29-year-old public transport manager dead in front of his family.

The suspect then made his way to Loon-Plage in his car, where he targetted two Iraqi Kurd migrants he saw by the side of the road.

He is thought to have got out of his car, to shoot them both in their heads, leaving them no chance of survival.
