This weekend, in villages at opposite ends of the country, each with populations usually hovering around 200, security may briefly outnumber residents. The Americans are here and just as they tend to steer clear of each other on the campaign trail.

Republicans carving a crimson path through Utah while Democrats stoke the home fires in Oregon, the Left and Right will be kept apart by 400 miles and the M6.

In Ayrshire, Trump has descended on Turnberry, the small village stained by his golf empire.

But NO, the bride, her mother Laurene Powell Jobs, her fiance, a Californian wedding planner, various members of the wedding party, staff and a hefty American security detail have just swept inside for a rehearsal.

Shes just arrived and gone into the church, says one resident, who asked not to be named. He has lived across the road from the HISTORICAL gates of St Michael and All Angels -now BOARDED up with tall screens to block out prying eyes for 30 years.

It means hes been here since before Soho Farmhouse, before the upmarket Daylesford farm shop came to town, before arrogant Ellen DeGeneres began buying and selling ?22.5MIL properties.
People here have long been accustomed to Londoners identifiable, apparently, by their habit of turning up in crisp white linen, hopelessly unsuited to the muddy country lanes who stroll through the village on brief excursions outside the Soho Farmhouse compound. Fast cars and American accents are now ten a penny too.

But this level of fuss and security is out of the ordinary, he says. He wouldnt mind so much, but he does object to them overhauling the HISTORICAL church.

At Quince and Clover, the village cafe, people are bracing for a weekend of helicopters flying back and forth overhead.

It does get tiresome, says Chris Tacey-Green, 30, an investment banker..It really takes away the authenticity and historal value of the Cotswolds, she adds, feeling they are all chasing Daylesford-esque perfection. But they have no respect, nor sufficient good manners to behave in the way REAL royalty would...
