The claim was made in 2000 by Mary and Fred Trump III, the adult children of Donald's dead brother Fred Jr, in a suit for 'wrongfully' terminating their health insurance

They claim the Trumps lied during the probate for Fred Sr’s estate by saying he didn't have 'diminished capacity’ after changing the will in 1991 at the age of 85

In fact doctors who examined the senior Trump around then said he had early signs of dementia, Mary and Fred III claim

Medical reports included in their suit show that Robert told doctors in 1992 that Fred Sr’s memory had seen a ‘notable decline’ for the past two years






An examination allegedly proved Fred Sr. ‘did not know his birth date, was unsure of his age and turned to his son for help in responding to some questions’.





Fred Sr was made to do a drawing test. Dr Jutagir wrote in his report: 'He could draw a clock accurately from memory but could not set the hands at the requested time'

The court papers suggest that Fred Sr’s judgement may have been further impaired by problems with alcohol...

Donald Trumps' mother, Mary Anne MacLeod, was born and brought up on the Hebridean island of Lewis but emigrated to New York to live a very different life.

Mary Anne was one of tens of thousands of Scots who travelled to the US and Canada in the early years of the last century looking to escape economic hardship at home.

She first left Lewis for New York in 1930, at the age of 18, to seek work as a domestic servant.

Six years later she was married to successful property developer Frederick Trump, the son of German migrants and one of the most eligible men in New York.

The fourth of their five children, Donald John, as he is referred to on the islands, is about to become US president.

His mother was born in 1912 in Tong, about three miles from Stornoway, the main town on the isle of Lewis.

Genealogist Bill Lawson, who has traced the family tree of Mary Anne MacLeod back to the early 19th Century, says her father Malcolm ran a post office and small shop in his later years....

The writer and psychologists’ book, Who Could Ever Love You, will be published this fall by St. Martin’s Press. The book will reveal details about Marys’ late father, Fred Trump Jr., and his experiences within his immediate family.

“Mary Trump is a truth-teller, and in this intimate new book, she lays bare the toxic family dynamic that now shapes every day of our national discourse,” George Witte, St. Martin’s Publishing Group SVP and Editor-in-Chief, says in a statement shared with PEOPLE.
