error msg, 0x80070570
Can someone help me out if it is possable?
I played a vid last nite twice from utorrent, but close everything and had the PC on but not connected, so I could turn moniter on as my lightglobe has blown, anyway I woke up at 2am and turned monitor on to see black and white message saying ( I think this was after I tried to shut down before hand) saying error boot\BCD unreadable, put in windows cd and click repair. So I did thaT many times to get this error message 0x80070570 on a total new install of vista, but it won't install as it stops and this message shows up and the is noway it will let do a safe mode boot or anything like that, it has locked me out totally. Any ideas????? I was thinking downloading my motherboard ,burning it and trying that first before I try another in stall? While I can get my main PC running again I won't be on as much to do my work here as I'm on this OLD laptop thats taken me 7 hours so far to get to this stage to working. Thanks pop |

Re: error msg, 0x80070570
Error 0x80070570: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.
You may have to save any data you need to first, then repartition the drive and reformat it the slow way to see if it has any bad blocks. There are boot disks like UBCD or HiRen that'll help you with that if you don't have a way to run FDisk and if the boot CD doesn't allow you to manuall re-partition and format the drive to kill all that is currently on it. If it formats in seconds, it is fast formatting, if it takes a while, like 10 mins to an hour, that is what we seek, a slow format. |

Yes, you will have to boot from a CDROM with the ability to transfer files. a Live Linux Distro very well may work as well. Perosnally, I have a USB Hard disk I have windows ME on. and also an ERD Commander disk for that. |

Re: error msg, 0x80070570
Generally, they aren't LIVE versions where you can boot to a desktop. Unless you downloaded a live version. MSDart 6.5 (ERD Commander) is the newest version that I know of. the 2005 version doesn't like SATA drives and was for XP. I think the new one is 2009 or 2011 but I can't find infor in the ERD Commander versions, but it's made from MSDart 6.5. Unless you understand that, I'd go for UBCD. I couldn't find it on here, nor a live version that was still active. utorrent should have some good ones though. Last edited by DMan999; 28-12-11 at 05:37. |

Re: error msg, 0x80070570
Thanks, just read up on ERD 6.5 now I'll read about UBCD and if nothing comes of it I'll shove in Kill Disk and suffer my lost stuff. I think I do have a recovery disk of some sort from years ago, never used it and have to look thru 100's of disks.
I think img burn had something to do with this while trying to make a bootable disk? I'll let you know how I go..... Thanks mate.... |

yes, ImgBurn or CDBurner XP are great ISO burners and the latter a copier as well. Code: [Check Download Links]
http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/download.html I am guessing that you may have a corrupted disk (maybe bad blocks too), so you should remove the partition, then create a primary with max size, then reformat it without the quick option. |

OK an update, after installing a heap of programs on this OLD lap top, I think Im running on 128 ram so slow, but now trying to burn UBCD with ultimatecdcc (I think I got the names right) the burner keeps saying put blank disk in.......I've done that muliti times so now I don't know what to do....
I can get into the boot page and all that stuff that comes up with it in blue/yellow on troubled computer if that helps at all? Last edited by pop; 30-12-11 at 05:41. |

Do you have anyone else that could burn it for you? If so, put the UBCD iso on to a USB thumb stick. I can't say for sure, but it sounds like you may have a CD Burner going bad. You could try cleaning the laser if you know how to do it, or if you have a cleaning disc. |

Re: error msg, 0x80070570
No not yet Dman, I will give it another go today, I have a feeling I have to open the ISO with the burner, because if I click open it , it brings up nero, so I'll try and open it with the other burning program first, than if that don,t work will try a memory stick.
And running XP on this and takes mso long to open up firefox, than no more than two tabs open at a time or it freezers.......I need my mother PC back!!!!!!! I should go back and read the spiecal tutorial on burning this right, as it said if you don't read it you will end up making a heap of coasters, so I,ll go and read it!!!! Its just taking so long to do this as I have to add utorrent onto this PC as with other programs 7zip etc, as I have than all on other pc and nothing on this one, so thats why its taking me so long and sorry LBB for not modding at the moment as yoou can see why. Re: error msg, 0x80070570
Once you get the CD burned, your PC would have to be set to boot from CDROM before the HDD. Most BIOS's allow that feature these days. Usually it's F1, F2, Delete or a similar key to get in to the BIOS then look for Boot Order or something similar.

Re: error msg, 0x80070570
waawoo I have finally been able to burn cd, just made about 5 dvd coasters, than I thought about using a blank cd which too me 2 hrs to find a blank on and change afew things to get the raw image to burn and its DONE!!!
Now in troubled PC it has all these different options to choose from from, so I guess I'll try a few that sounds ok to me and see what happen's???? Wish me luck and thanks. Dman. |

Re: error msg, 0x80070570
What about moving? Many who get into difficulties start thinking I have to burn something or I will lose it, yet give no thought to moving it to a the EXT HDD (large one - 500Mb to 1Tb). Not always mind you, but sometimes when things go wrong it will affect the burning capabilities but not the moving function. Albeit Pop it is going to be slow with 128Mb RAM, but worth it if you want it saved (and it works).
Did you buy W7 or was it promotional, because promotional does go belly up and loses quite often what you are going to need the most. Also on older machines it can be quirky. Just an added thought... Windows XP Requirements: - PC with 300 megahertz or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233 MHz minimum required (single or dual processor system);* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, or AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended - 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features) - 1.5 gigabytes (GB) of available hard disk space* Compared to.... Windows7: - 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor - 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit) - 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit) It is possible that it could be the memory module. With clean hands, remove the RAM carefully. Have on hand a WHITE rubber (eraser), and clean all those gold teeth in a gentle one way action. Then use a painter's brush and lightly brush off all the residue of the eraser. Check the mobo as well, look inside where you took the ram out, and give that a light brush with the paint brush as well. The slightest bit of dust can screw things up. Then give the RAM holder a good blow with your breath and reinstall the RAM carefully. If it fails to work, it could be a conflict issue because info is going everywhere but where its supposed to.

The Ethereal Being: He's trying to boot from a CD to fix his Windows installation and/or to resurrect his PC. It could be a hardware issue, but he's trying to back his stuff up if possible before he tries to reload the OS which may be corrupted.
Pop: You'll have to find the boot option that allows you to boot from CD/DVD first. Any time you want to make a bootable media you have to use a blank CD.DVD. What does the blue screen say is malfunctioning when you read it? Could it be a memory error? a CPU Error? A hard disk Error? Code: [Check Download Links]
http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/topic/43519-windows-xp-blue-screen-of-death-stop-codes/ I am hoping that CD (UBCD or Hiren) can either fix your booting issues or have a file manager on it where you can copy files off. I know ERD does. Last edited by DMan999; 06-01-12 at 14:40. |

No worries EB. I am thinking it's a hard disk issue at this point, but one is never sure, especially when one can't see the offending PC. Thanks for jumping in and helping. a memory or CPU issue would be my next guess. First I want to see if he can get his documents off his PC before it totally fails. and if it boots and runs, we'll know it's more than likely not a CPU issue, it may not be memory and most likely would then be a hard disk issue. Hard disks tend to go more frequently than RAM, but it does happen. People tend to jar PCs when the hard disk is being accesses. since the head is literally right on the platters at that time (3 nanometres), it causes damage. Even worse are laptops when PCs are some times dropped. Talk about some serious jarring. ~DMan |

Reading this:
Code: [Check Download Links]

Re: error msg, 0x80070570
Dman I think we have mixed up things here, the laptop I am currentily on is the old ****ty pc, my normal pc, tower has legel vista on it wityh 2 gigs ran and nivadia 512 ram graphics card, but I have just remembered how I did this error and it was with ccleaner and accidently wiped the boot image itself, so now with this program, which brings up a heap of different options I don't know what to pick or do. I can take pics of it and put them into my folder here if you want,or try to partion drive(thats one choice) thinking I could boot fron windows disk than????
UBCD does have options to click onto like cpu and hdd and and memery as well as folder options. Different types of boot images for lunix and mbr, which I think I need, have tried but than all info comes back in pages of writting which I cannot get to top of page to read, or I can install GRUB or GRUB2 onto the hard disk? This is why I'm not sure what to do other than walk away for a few hours than come back to it. Yes EB this is what happens when ya get old mate Last edited by pop; 06-01-12 at 21:10. |

There isn't an option on CCleaner that'd mess up your booting my friend. I don't doubt you have some kind of issue, whether it is a corrupted file or a hardware issue isn't know yet for sure. We're just hoping to get your stuff off the drive and backed up, then you can wipe and reload. Hiren has some utilities where you can copy/back up files. It'd been a better option for you to have downloaded. UBCD has PhotoRec and TestDisk that may do something for you. I had a special version of UBCD that was also a bootable version of windows PE, it was a hybrid of some sort. There are several partition management programs on it. I'd try Ranish Partition Manager myself. I'd recommend backing up, then use UBCD to wipe all your partitions and re-make them. Don't forget to make a Primary Partition and set it Active. I'd recommend only one drive unless you have a huge drive. i.e. bigger than 500GB and to format it NTFS. After that, just reload your Windows and see if it takes. with any luck, you won't have any more issues. If you do, we'll tackle it at that point knowing your install should have been good. I'd use ERD Commander, it'd make backing up easier for you. UBCD would be better to diagnose and partition your drive. Your Windows install should have partition and format options too; probably under an advanced install button or similar. |

OK so I have downloaded ERD and unrar'ed it to get another rariso unpacked, when I clicked on it, program ultimatecd.. came up and I didn't think that would burn a rar iso file, so I did a single extraction now all this other stuff has come up, but nothing I recongonise like a raw image file.(iso)
The only way I can show you is with iviewer unless you know of something else? |

Re: error msg, 0x80070570
There's no such thing as a rar.iso. an .iso is an .iso. If it's really an .iso it can be burned by imgburn. I'm not there so I can't see what you have. If you have winrar, try extracting it and see if you get a directory full of files. If you do, it's an .iso and can be burned.
