At Pride: Critical, Rampage unleashed the beast and went WWE on Ricardo Arona. Rampage was quickly on the ground with Arona. Then, stuck in a triangle choke, the powerful Rampage picked up Arona and quickly slammed him onto the mat.
Just a note to the casual MMA fan, Rampage used a slam in a previous fight, on Masaaki Satake at Pride 20 and won because of the injuries Satake had from the slam. That's how powerful these slams are.
Rampage's slams are so powerful they even tested them on Sports Science. They concluded that a Rampage slam is the hardest hit in sports.
After this slam knockout victory, Rampage earned a shot for the Pride middleweight title but lost to an MMA legend in Wanderlei Silva. Rampage is 10-4 since that fight and has held the UFC light heavyweight title.
Arona has shared similar success, compiling a 6-3 record since the fight. Arona has also fought for two Pride titles. He fought against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, the now former UFC light heavyweight champion, and Wanderlei Silva, for two separate titles in Pride.
Definitely an all-time great in knockouts. You have to put some serious force into a slam to knock someone out like Rampage did to Arona.
