CM Punk Discusses His Future with WWE During Interview at AP Music Awards
By Bleachers Report Jul 22, 2014 "Never ever. Never ever ever." That, according to Punk himself, is when he'll be making his anticipated return to the WWE. Speaking with WOIO and CBS 19's Chris Van Vliet at the AP Music Awards, the former champion discussed a potential return to the ring, among other things When Van Vliet asked Punk if a return to wrestling was ever possible, the 35-year-old was adamant: "No. No. No. Never ever. Never ever ever. They're going to go crazy about that on Twitter. They're going to hold me to it, and yeah, whatever." If you're simply reading the transcript, though, take it with a grain of salt. Punk was rotating between serious and sarcastic throughout the entire interview, and that final question was no different. His first two "no's" seemed genuine, while he seemed to transform into "troll the entire Internet" mode for the last part of the answer. Read into it how you will. Many believe that Punk is done. His departure from the company after the 2014 Royal Rumble was an ugly one, and the company moving him to its alumni page on WWE.com only seemed to further burn the bridge. "There's chunks of my life I don't remember due to staph infections and concussions," Punk told Van Vliet, part bitterly and part sarcastically. On the other hand, a move to the alumni page is hardly one that sets anything in stone. There are still plenty of others who will hold firm in their belief that either A) this is all a work, or B) Punk will eventually mend his relationship with the company. However, it doesn't seem like that reconciliation will happen anytime soon. F4WOnline.com reported on the company's view of Punk following the end of his contract: However, it's certainly been done before following other bad breakups. Either way, though, Punk seems to be enjoying his post-wrestling life. No matter how you may read into the tone of his most recent interview, it continues to look less and less likely that a return from the massively popular superstar is coming.
