England Rugby International Billy Vunipola Laughs After Police Taser Him TWICE
England rugby star Billy Vunipola laughed as the police tried to taser him twice during a tense late-night stand-off in a bar in Palma, the capital of Majorca AP 1 MAY 2024 ![]() "You Wouldn't Mess With Him!".... ![]() ![]() This is the moment England rugby international Billy Vunipola laughs after police try to taser him in a Majorcan late-night bar. Witnesses told today how the 6ft 2in 20-stone giant appeared unphased by the first stun gun shot, although police admitted today it hadn't discharged, and was only knocked to the ground when police fired at him a second time. Vunipola, 31, was arrested and taken to hospital by ambulance with a police guard following the drama in the early hours of Sunday morning at Epic bar in the island capital Palma. He was later hauled in front of a judge for questioning. He was released on conditional bail pending an ongoing probe following his court appearance. In a statement on Monday morning, Vunipola said: “I can confirm I was involved in an unfortunate misunderstanding when I was leaving a club in Mallorca on Sunday, which got out of hand,” he said in a statement. “Contrary to media reports, there was no violence, no fight and I did not threaten anybody at any stage, with bottles or chairs or anything else. “I was charged with resisting the law and, following an 'express trial', I have paid a fine of 240 euros. The Spanish police investigation is now closed, and I am flying back to the UK today. I will obviously cooperate with the Saracens internal process and unreservedly apologise for any inconvenience to all involved.” ![]() Billy Vunipola has 75 caps for England |
