Wolves & West Brom THUGS Fought in Stands-Players Safety Fears For Their Families
Football is in The Gutter When Players Fear For Safety of Their Families in The Stands.
These Appalling Scenes Have Left a Stain on Our Game... Wolves and West Brom THUGS Fought in The Stands Kyle Bartley was seen holding his daughter on the pitch after intervening to ensure she was removed from danger... MailOnline 29 JAN 2024 It was supposed to be the moment Wolves celebrated ending a hoodoo that had lasted nearly 10,000 days. Sadly for those in old gold, we will be talking about the appalling scenes that overshadowed this Black Country derby for much longer than that. ‘I’ve seen it bad, but never like this,’ said one lifelong Albion observer as he watched a man led across the pitch, blood pouring from his face. Albion defender Kyle Bartley was seen holding his daughter on the pitch after intervening to ensure she was removed from danger. It was a captivating image: such innocence against a backdrop of such abhorrent behaviour. The match had always had the potential for trouble as it was the first time these rivals had met in front of fans since 2012. But not a 39-minute suspension that placed people, including children, in danger. West Brom face punishment after after crowd disorder and violent scenes marred Sunday’s FA Cup tie against rivals Wolves. Play in the Black Country derby at The Hawthorns was suspended for more than half an hour after trouble flared in the stands and fans spilled onto the pitch. West Midlands Police confirmed arrests were made following the second-half disturbances and one person was taken to hospital with head injuries. There were reports of fans clashing with police and some West Brom players were concerned about family members sitting close to the trouble. At least one, Kyle Bartley, went into the crowd to get children out. |
