With the fight between Floyd Mayweather and Miguel Cotto booked for May 5, it is never too early to get a jump on the oddsmakers and see what's going to happen. If you're thinking about making any bets, or ordering the fight, take a look at what you will see on Cinco de Mayo.




It will go the distance

At the very least, you will be watching a long fight between the two. Both fighter's bouts generally go to the judges. An exception to that would be the Victor Ortiz fight for Mayweather, but that fight ended in weird circumstances.

Mayweather generally controls the action in his fights and this will be no different. He doesn't ever seem interested in scoring a knockout and there is no way that he'll be on the wrong end of one.
Cotto will try to be aggressive, but it won't pay off against Mayweather. This fight will go the distance. Still, just because the fight will be long doesn't mean it will be good.

It will be a letdown

At this point, any fight that Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao has that is not against the other is going to be a letdown. This fight will be a letdown from that end, but it also won't be a good fight.



Mayweather is not the most exciting fighter to watch. He gets up and plays a highly defensive style, never afraid to notch a points win. Don't get me wrong, his boring style contributes great to his 42-0 record, but it's often boring to watch.
When Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez fought, it was a letdown because it wasn't Mayweather vs. Pacquiao, but the fight was riveting. This one won't hit on either.

Mayweather will win

The last fight Mayweather has before going off to jail will be a successful one. Cotto does fight a slightly more aggressive style, but Mayweather's defense is far too good to think it's going to matter.
At this point, the only fighter that could possibly beat Mayweather is Pacquiao. There is no point in Money taking any fights with anyone who could beat him, unless it's Pacquiao.
There is nothing about either of these two that suggests a Cotto win is likely. It isn't going to happen. Mayweather will win by unanimous decision.
