The suspects have been identified as Damien Sanderson (left) and Myles Sanderson

The victims were found in 13 locations, including in James Smith Cree Nation and Weldon.

Two suspects - identified as Damien Sanderson and Myles Sanderson - are on the run, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Saskatchewan tweeted.

"The suspects may be in black Nissan Rogue [vehicle]," the police warned.

Update re: Canada MASS Stabbings: Second Suspect Died After Arrest

Canada Mass Stabbings: Victims Were Found in 13 Locations in The James Smith Cree Nation

At least 10 people have been killed and another 15 injured in a stabbing rampage in Canada's central Saskatchewan province, police say.

BBC News 5 SEP 2022

The victims were found in 13 locations in the James Smith Cree Nation and nearby village of Weldon.

Two suspects named as Damien Sanderson and Myles Sanderson are on the run and considered armed and dangerous.

Residents have been told to shelter in place, as a massive manhunt continues across a huge geographical area.

"Do not leave a secure location. Use caution allowing others into your residence," Saskatchewan Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) tweeted.

Checkpoints have been set up, with police checking travellers' identification, and drivers have been urged not to pick up hitchhikers.

A state of emergency has been declared in the James Smith Cree Nation - an indigenous community with about 2,000 residents north-east of Weldon, where about 200 people live.

And a dangerous person alert was sent to all mobile phones across the provinces of Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta - an enormous region almost half the size of Europe.

It is one of the deadliest acts of mass violence Canada has ever seen.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau described the attack on Twitter as "horrific and heartbreaking".

"I am shocked and devastated by the horrific attacks today," he said in a separate statement. "Those responsible for today's abhorrent attacks must be fully brought to justice."

At a news briefing on Sunday evening, police said there could be more injured people than the 15 they already knew about, who had taken themselves to hospital.

Rhonda Blackmore, Commanding Officer for Saskatchewan RCMP said that some people may have been targeted by the two suspects, while others are believed to have been "attacked randomly".

The relationship between Damien Sanderson, 31, and Myles Sanderson, 30, is unclear, and the authorities have so far provided no further details.

The first emergency call was made to police at 05:40 local time on Sunday morning in the provincial capital Regina, about 280km (173 miles) south of Weldon, Ms Blackmore said.

This was quickly followed by many more calls for help, developing into a "rapidly unfolding event".

The suspects were last seen by members of the public in Regina at about lunchtime on Sunday, and may be travelling in a black Nissan Rogue, she said.

"They are considered armed and dangerous... If you see the suspects or their vehicle, do not approach them, immediately leave the area and call 911."

Weldon resident Diane Shier said her neighbour, a man who lived with his grandson, was killed, the Globe and Mail newspaper reported.

He was described by another resident, Robert Rush, as a gentle, widowed man in his 70s.

"He wouldn't hurt a fly," Mr Rush was quoted as saying.

Canada Stabbings: One Suspect Found Dead ,The Other Still Missing

Canada police have said that one of the two suspects in Sunday's mass stabbings in Saskatchewan has been found dead.

BBC News 6 SEP 2022.

Damien Sanderson (left) was found dead but Myles Sanderson is still at large

The body of Damien Sanderson, 31, was found in the James Smith Cree Nation, home to several victims, they said.

The two suspects were brothers and police say Myles Sanderson is still at large and believed to be in the city of Regina.

On Sunday, 10 people were stabbed to death in one of the worst acts of violence in Canada's recent history.

The attacks - which left another 18 people injured - happened in a remote region of Saskatchewan.

In Regina, the province's capital city, where the suspects were last seen, families are in mourning and communities on edge.

But in the city centre on Monday evening, there were no obvious signs of the manhunt. The city was mostly quiet as families gathered to enjoy the Labour Day holiday, the unofficial end to summer.

Every so often, that calm was interrupted by piercing alerts ringing on mobile phones, warning of two adult male suspects, and then just one, still on the run.

Officers from three provinces - Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta - are involved in the search.

The brutal spree of violence has rocked the typically peaceful province, with police investigating 13 different crime scenes.

Both Damien and Myles were charged with murder, despite not being arrested.

Police Assistant Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore told a news conference a "deceased male" was located in the James Smith Cree Nation at 11:30 local time (17:30 GMT). It was later confirmed, at 13:17 on Monday, "that the deceased is Damien Sanderson".

She told reporters his "body was located outdoors in a heavily grassed area in proximity to a house that was being examined" by authorities.

Ms Blackmore said Damien's body was found with "visible injuries" and they were "not believed to be self-inflicted at this point".

Police have said Myles, Damien's brother, is still at large and they have encouraged people to remain alert.

The 30-year-old suspect might also have sustained injuries and police have warned the public he might seek medical assistance. But police did not say whether he was responsible for his brother's death.

Myles, who was previously known to the police, is described as having an "extensive and lengthy criminal record" dating back a number of years for crimes against individuals and property.

"This kind of violence, or any kind of violence has no place in our country," said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday.

He said that "tragedies like these have become all too commonplace" - adding that Saskatchewanians and Canadians would be there for each other in "times of difficulty and anguish".

Many of the victims were residents of the remote James Smith Cree Nation, home to about 2,000 people - leaving members of Canada's indigenous community especially shaken. A state of emergency was declared in Saskatchewan.

Canadian media have identified some of the victims, although no official details have been provided by authorities.

Saskatchewan's 1.2 million residents are scattered across 250,000 square miles. Clusters of tight-knit communities, separated by stretches of highways, dot the flat expanse of farmland. Most places feel remote.

Canadian Mass Stabbing Second Suspect DEAD After Arrest

Second Saskatchewan suspect dead from self-inflected wounds after 10 killed in one of Canada’s worst attacks

BBC News 8 SEP 2022

Myles Sanderson, a suspect in the weekend stabbing spree that killed 10 and wounded 19 people across a First Nations community in rural Canada, died from self-inflicted inflected wounds after being arrested on Wednesday, according to officials. An unnamed Canadian official told The Associated Press that Mr Sanderson died after police rammed his car off the road.

The suspect was taken away alive in an ambulance before later succombing to his injuries, Global News reports, citing multiple unnamed law enforcement sources.

The 32-year-old was apprehended around 3.30pm CST on Wednesday near the town of Rosthern, Saskatchewan, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).

“The Saskatchewan RCMP would like to thank the public for their dillegence in providing pertinent information about potential sightings of Myles Sanderson,” the police said in a statement.

The suspect was thought to be seen earlier in the day in the Wakaw and Prince Albert areas, with the individual described as driving a white Chevrolet and carrying a knife, according to the Saskatchewan RCMP, who later cancelled an emergency alert related to the spotting.

Unofficial video obtained by the CBC appears to show multiple armed officers in bulletproof vests surrounding a white Chevy truck pulled onto the side of a road.

The arrest brings to a close the massive, four-day manhunt for Sanderson and his brother Damien, who was found dead on Monday from wounds that did not appear to be self-inflicted, police said.

Saskatoon Tribal Council chief Mark Arcand, who lost his sister and nephew in the killings, said the arrests mean the community can begin to recover from its trauma.

"Now people can start to feel safe again but also now is the time for healing to begin," he said in a statement.

“We are broken, but we’re not defeated,” he added at a press conference on Wednesday.

Saskatchewan premier Scott Moe thanked police for their efforts.

“To the men and women in uniform who have worked day and night to track down and arrest this dangerous criminal, thank you,” he said on Wednesday in a statement. “We owe you all a great debt of gratitude.”
