Eurostar Flooded Tunnels Leave Thousands Stranded-Many Had to Pay £700 For Flights
Eurostar to Resume Services Tomorrow After Thousands Left Stranded Due to Flooding
Stranded Eurostar passengers sleep overnight at St Pancras after flooded tunnels cancelled ALL services - while airlines charge New Year revellers scrambling to make alternative plans £700 for last-minute one-way flights to Paris MailOnline News 31 DEC 2023 Southeastern high speed trains sit in the sidings at Ashford International Station in Kent after their services were cancelled because of the flooding at Ebbsfleet A Eurostar train sits empty Stranded Eurostar passengers are bedding down to sleep overnight at St Pancras after flooded tunnels cancelled all their services. Photos from inside the station show shattered travellers wrapped in their warmest clothes with their rucksacks under their heads as they curl up on tiny benches in central London. On plastic seating in the concourse children are lying on their parents to get some much-needed sleep after a day of desperate waiting. And others clutch their bags as they wait for morning to come when the service is set to restart. It comes as airlines are charging New Year's revellers nearly £700 for last-minute one-way flights to Paris after Eurostar cancelled all of its services due to floods hitting a major tunnel connecting Britain to mainland Europe. The chaos has left around 30,000 furious Eurostar passengers stranded in London, ruining their New Year's Eve plans and forcing them to scramble for alternatives, such as travelling by plane instead.
