Massive Winter Storm Looms with Freezing Rain, 100km/h Winds and Huge Snow Dumps - But Sydney is in for ANOTHER Spring-Like Weekend as Melbourne Shivers Through the Coldest Weather in a Century
Australia's temperamental winter weather is set to continue with torrential storms set to sweep right across the nation's south east. Victoria will cop the brunt of the blistering storm as strong wind warnings have been issued tonight for Port Philip, West Coast and Central Coast. Melbourne can expect torrential downpours over the weekend, with thunderstorms a strong possibility. ![]() Melbourne can expect torrential downpours over the weekend, with thunderstorms a strong possibility ![]() Rain is pretty much a guarantee for Adelaide and Melbourne, with Hobart and Perth also potentially hit by storms ![]() Australia's south coastline is set to be battered by blustering winds as residents are warned to prepare themselves for strong gales over the weekend There will be no respite moving into Saturday as south east Australia braces itself for gale-force winds that has left experts warning Victorians to secure their property. There are also freezing conditions predicted in Alpine areas, with record snow levels set to batter the state's north east with winds topping 100km/h. The Victorian Alps and New South Wales Alps are set to receive the worst snowfall of the year with between 50cm to 90cm due over the weekend,' Weatherzone meteorologist Tom Hough told Daily Mail Australia. 'There is a 30 per cent chance of thunderstorms in Melbourne over the weekend, and with it will come gales of around 90km/h,' he added. ![]() Temperatures will once again plummet below freezing in Canberra while Perth will struggle through a cold weekend ![]() Torrential rain is expected in Melbourne, accompanied by gale force winds up to 100km/h. Quote:
It comes after Melbourne struggled through it's coldest day since 1970, as a record low 8.9C was recorded in the city's CBD. Neighbouring states South Australia and New South Wales will also be hit badly, feeling the effects of a polar low moving north from the Southern Ocean towards western Bass Strait. Adelaide, as well as the South Australian coastline, have been warned to brace itself for similar conditions predicted for Victoria. New South Wales can expect to receive the tail end of the harsh winter conditions sweeping the south. Canberra will also continue its streak of plummeting temperatures, peaking at a minimum of -5C on Wednesday Things aren't much better for Perth who will endure a miserable weekend with a maximum temperature of 4C as an unpredictable Australian winter continues. ![]() Mount Hotham in the Victorian Alps could see its heaviest snow fall of the year with between 50 and 90cm set to fall over the next few days ![]() Winds of around 70km/h are expected as a minimum but some areas could hit up to 100km/h

Well I can't forget the Aussies BaZZa, now can I? I remember how the first white Aussies arrived in Australia when the darn English emptied their jails and shipped all their criminals to beautiful Aussieland. Then about 40 years ago Australia even had a promotion encouraging Brits to emigrate there for only about 80AUD.... Now there was an offer I regret not taking... ![]() It's great to see that Australia is now a even better place to live than England and best of all the Un-United States of America.... ![]() Stay warm BaZZa my friend and keep your pets safe, warm and close to you. As you and I both know, one can trust animals more than people in this crazy world... ![]() .

In Brisbane we are experiencing hot summer temperatures over the next week, with temps over 30 degrees, never seen before so early, so if this is a sign for whats coming to us this summer we are in for one hell of a hot unpleasant period, with air cons running full ball again.

Sure LBB,
![]() https://www.sunshinecoastdaily.com.au/news/temperature-set-to-soar-on-coast/3210883/ NAMBOUR is set for a day time winter maximum of 31 degrees as a high pressure system over south-east Queensland continues to dictate weather conditions. The Sunshine Coast's hot and cold winter will become more extreme as we head into next week, but surprisingly we've had hotter August days and don't need to reach for the history books to locate them. Bureau of Meteorology forecaster James Thompson said Maroochydore dropped to 5.8 degrees this morning with Gympie and the Sunshine Coast hinterland lower still at 2-3 degrees. Today's maximum will peak at 25 degrees before the coastal fringe jumps to 27 degrees on Friday and then 28 degrees on Saturday. The lingering high pressure system over south-east Queensland will push day time maximums to 29 degrees on the beach by Wednesday, seven degrees above average but still below the record 35 degrees recorded in August, 2009. Inland at Nambour on Wednesday a 31 degree maximum is expected, eight degrees above average while Ipswich will hit 33 and Brisbane 30. Mr Thompson said there was no rain on the horizon and despite a 10% chance of a shower Sunday that too was unlikely. He said hot Augusts occurred occasionally but the higher temperatures were generally recorded later in the month. Winds tomorrow will reach 25kmh from the north north east before becoming light later in the afternoon with a 27 degree peak coming off a 10 degree overnight low. Saturday will be sunny with light winds throughout on what will be a summery day peaking at 28 while Sunday will also be windless but a slightly cooler 26 degrees. Clear skies are again predicted for Monday with south west winds turning south east to 20kmh before they swing north east on Tuesday. Both days will have peaks of 27 degrees before the heat really sets in Wednesday. There is next to no chance of surf but conditions on the water should be ideal for fishing. Might be good for those on the beach but not inland. |
