Police have made five arrests after a supposed deal between the teens parents and another couple, looking to marry the underage girl to their son.

Officers in Spain said the alleged shocking crime came to light when they spotted the young girl begging outside a local supermarket in western Catalonia.

Local cops said the 14 year olds parents agreed to sell her to the man and they received EU5,000, five bottles of whiskey and food, from a couple in Lleida, Catalonia, in exchange.

The Guardia Civil said the young teenage girl remained under the control of the purchasing family for the purpose of consummating the forced marriage, according to The Olive Press. They added that the young girl was also banned from going to school and was forced to spend her days outside begging for money, to give back to the family.

Police first discovered her outside a supermarket in Les Borges Blanques, Western Catalonia. Investigators have said they believe the minor was sold under a Romani cultural practice, which has no legal rights in Spain.

Cops arrested the teens parents, aged 35, the couple who bought her, aged 40 and 42, and their 20 year old son who allegedly married the girl. Three of the detainees were detained on suspicion of human trafficking and were banned from contacting the girl.

They have since been released from jail, pending further investigation, according to CatalanNews. A source has reportedly claimed the teenager has since chosen to return to her family and said she did not see her self as a victim of the crime.

This comes after a mum was sentenced to life behind bars for kidnapping and trafficking her own child for her eyes and skin. A trial, in South Africa, heard how mum Racquel Kell Smith, her boyfriend Jacquen Appollis and their friend Steveno van Rhyn kidnapped young Joshlin Smith.

A court head that the little girl was horrifically sold to a traditional healer for her body parts. The shocking incident unfolded after Joshlin was reported missing in February 2024, sparking a nationwide hunt.
