Nursery Worker Found Guilty of Child Cruelty For Punching, Kicking and Scratching Babies

An EVIL 22 year old nursery worker has been convicted of abusing 21 babies, including kicking one little boy in the face and stepping on his shoulder.

Roksana Lecka, from Hounslow, west London, admitted seven counts of cruelty to a person under the age of 16 and was found guilty of another 14 by a jury at Kingston Crown Court, the Metropolitan Police said.

Exceptional Cruelty

Her crimes were discovered in June last year after she was sent home for pinching a number of children and appearing flustered at the Riverside Nursery in Twickenham, south west London, the Crown Prosecution Service said.

Solicitor Jemma Till from Irwin Mitchell said the families involved had been traumatised

Detectives from the Met Police went through CCTV from the nursery that showed her pinching and scratching children under their clothes on their arms, legs and stomachs.

Det Sgt Geoff Boye said: Footage showed Lecka carrying out multiple assaults on the children in her care which included repeatedly punching and grabbing children, dropping babies into their cots and on one occasion, she delivered several kicks to a young boy to the face and stepped on his shoulder.

A cannabis smoking worker at a Montessori nursery who was caught vaping in an infant sleeping room has been jailed for eight years for attacking 21 toddlers in her care with sadistic violence.

Heartbroken parents tearfully recalled discovering bruises and injuries on their children caused by Roksana Lecka, 22, punching, kicking, throwing and pinching them.

In victim impact statements, some spoke of their overwhelming guilt at sending their infants to the Riverside Nursery in Twickenham, southwest London, and failing to protect them.

One father said he and his wife believed that Lecka would have gone on to kill a child had she not been caught.

Judge Sarah Plaschkes KC told Lecka she should be barred from ever working with children or vulnerable people again. She told the defendant, from Hounslow, west London

You committed multiple acts of gratuitous violence.

You pinched, slapped, punched, smacked and kicked them. You pulled their ears, hair and their toes. You toppled children headfirst into cots. You caused bruising and lingering red marks. When you committed these acts of cruelty you would look at the other members of staff to make sure that they were not watching you.

Often the child would be quietly and happily minding its own business before you deliberately inflicted pain causing the child to cry, arch, try to get away or writhe around in distress. Time after time you calmly watched the pain and suffering you have caused. Your criminal conduct can properly be characterised as sadistic

Lecka had tried to justify her behaviour by claiming she was sleep deprived from smoking cannabis all night with her boyfriend, but she was convicted of child cruelty in June.

Horrified parents began photographing and reporting unexplained injuries on their children's bodies in March last year. But managers at the nursery failed to identify Lecka as the culprit and she continued to care for children under two until staff finally became suspicious on June 28 last year and she was arrested.

Lecka was also found to have abused infants at a second nursery, and was only discovered when she was sent home from Riverside for pinching multiple children.

The father said As someone who works in safeguarding children, I find the fact that Roksana slipped through the net and was allowed to work with children absolutely criminal. My wife believes that if she had not been caught she could have gone on to seriously injure or even kill by dropping babies into cots on their heads and kicking them

A mother described the moment a police officer rang to tell her that her son had been attacked by a member of nursery staff. I remember exactly where I was when I received the call about my son she said. I was working at my desk and just collapsed when he told me about what had happened to him.

The officer asked if he every came home with bruises or injuries, and I said yes all the time because he is a toddler. Parents sat through 75 clips amounting to hours of footage of Lecka abusing children during her trial. In a victim impact statement, one mother said Seeing the footage of Roksana Lecka picking out children and then assaulting them again and again was just horrifying

Arlette Piercy, defending, said Lecka had been attacked twice by other inmates at HMP Bronzefield.....

Her evidence was damning of the chaotic environment at the now closed Riverside Nursery, part of a prestigious group of educational institutions run by Dukes Education

Lecka, who is from Poland but moved to the UK with her parents when she was younger, was caught on CCTV kicking a boy in the face and punching a girl in the side..

Shes never shown any remorse or any empathy throughout the trial or the investigation
