Bristol's Clifton Suspension Bridge has reopened a day after two suitcases containing human remains were found in the area sparking a manhunt.
Avon and Somerset Police said officers were looking for a man who was seen with a suitcase acting suspiciously on the bridge just before midnight on Wednesday. The man had gone by the time they arrived.
Police closed the bridge in both directions on Thursday.
Avon and Somerset Police has launched a manhunt to find the suspect, who is described as black with a beard and a gold earring.
Officers said the suspect was wearing a black Adidas baseball cap, black jeans, a black jacket, black trainers with thick white soles and had a black backpack
The force's initial inquiries found the man was taken to the bridge in a taxi.
The taxi driver's vehicle has been seized and the driver is helping officers.

A manhunt was launched yesterday for a suspect thought to have abandoned two suitcases containing body parts before he was able to throw them from the 250ft bridge into the gorge below.
The suspect is thought to have arrived at the bridge by taxi shortly before midnight on Wednesday before leaving the suitcases and their gruesome contents behind.
Around the same time, an American tourist who was waiting for a taxi on the bridge with his wife claims he saw 'two men getting out of a car and lugging heavy-looking suitcases' across the road.
As they waited, a female passerby joked with the two men about the contents of the bags, Giles Malone claimed. She said to them: 'These are the heaviest suitcases I've ever lifted. What's in them? Bodies'.
'We sort of semi-joked about it but they didn't say anything,' he said.
Avon and Somerset Police issued a warning to the public that they are still searching for the suspect, described as being 'black with a beard' dressed in a 'black Adidas baseball cap, black jeans, black jacket, black trainers with thick white soles.'
Mr Malone believes there were two men carrying the suitcases but so far the police have only issued a picture of one man they want to speak to.

Police probing body parts found in a suitcase on Clifton Suspension Bridge last night found more human remains at a flat in London, as detectives formally named the suspect for the first time.
Scotland Yard confirmed Colombian national Yostin Andres Mosquera, 24, is the man they arrested. It is not known when he first came to the UK. arrest
Yesterday, attention turned away from Bristol, where the remains of two men were first uncovered, and towards a flat in Shepherd's Bush, west London.
Police were seen at the property in Scotts Road for several hours, before the Met revealed that more remains had been found, believed to be of the same two victims.
Mosquera, who is a keen rugby fan according to posts on social media, is understood to have known both victims, detectives said. Pictures of the 24-year-old show him eating fish and chips at the Crown and Anchor pub in Chiswick and lounging on the edge of a boat in a holiday destination.
A 36-year-old man arrested earlier in the night has since been released without charge.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine said: 'This is a fast moving enquiry with detectives in London and Bristol actively pursuing a number of lines of enquiry.
'Locating Yostin Andres Mosquera, however, is the priority and I appeal to anyone with information on his whereabouts to get in touch.'
Officers believe they know the identity of the two men who died, although formal identification is yet to take place.
Detectives were seen searching a flat in Shepherd's Bush as it is believed the men were murdered and dismembered in the West London suburb, with the Metropolitan Police taking over the investigation.
A helicopter was circling above the crime scene on Friday afternoon, as four police officers guarded tape which cordoned off an area of bins below a high-rise building.
A Met Police spokesperson said: 'Over the last 48 hours, we have been working closely with our colleagues from Avon and Somerset Police.
'Their enquiries established that the man they are seeking in connection with the discovery of human remains may have travelled to Bristol from London. 'As a result, the Met is now leading the investigation and the search to find the man wanted in connection with this incident.
'We are drawing on resources from across the Met to arrest this individual, with detectives working at pace.'

A porn actor who murdered a couple before abandoning their body parts in a suitcase near the Clifton Suspension Bridge found out his fate today after a judge had warned he may never be safe to set free.
Yostin Andres Mosquera, 35, has been sentenced to life with a minimum of 42 years in jail.
He was filmed callously singing and dancing seconds after slitting the throat of 62 year old Albert Alfonso during a sex game caught on camera. He had also battered Mr Alfonsos civil partner Paul Longworth 71, to death with a hammer just hours earlier and later attempted to steal from them.
Mosquera, who is a Colombian national, smiled after the sentence of 40 years and 264 days, taking account of his time served in custody, was delivered by a judge, via a translator, at Woolwich Crown Court. Prior to sentencing he also pleaded guilty to child porn charges.
His trial previously heard he had been staying at the couples flat in Shepherd's Bush, West London, when he killed them on July 8 last year. He then decapitated and dismembered them both, before putting their heads in a chest freezer and transporting the rest of their remains in suitcases to Bristol two days later.
Mosqueras plan was to hurl the suitcases over the iconic bridge shortly before midnight on July 10 in order to dispose of the body parts following the calculated and premeditated killings. But he fled when bridge staff noticed something appeared to be leaking from one of the suitcases he was carrying and shone their lights on him.
The killer, who was later arrested at Bristol Temple Meads railway station, told a passing cyclist who saw him on the bridge that the large red suitcase and a silver trunk he was carrying contained car parts.
The court previously heard Alfonso, a swimming instructor, enjoyed extreme sex and Mosquera, who he met online years earlier, was part of that world
