Police believe three people at the centre of a murder investigation following the death of a 10-year-old girl in Surrey have already left the UK. Detectives from Surrey Police and Sussex Police’s Major Crime Team have identified the trio of people they would like to speak to as part of their enquiries.
An investigation was launched after officers were called to an address in Hammond Road, Woking, at around 2.50am yesterday morning (August 10), following a concern for safety.
On arrival, the unnamed girl was sadly found dead inside the property. Her family has been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.
Murder detectives have started the second day of their investigation into the death of a 10-year-old girl at her home in a quiet Surrey village.
Fellow parents in the quiet village of Horsell, near Woking, were traumatised by the news of the youngster's killing, which one mum said has left her child terrified. A heavy police presence at the semi-detached property as people laid flowers on the pavement. Neighbours say a family with six "very young" children moved into the house in April.
One mother, who wished not to be named, said she was "traumatised" by the news, adding that her children were "terrified". She said: "It's just a shock. My 16-year-old daughter was very upset thinking about that little girl." Several other local people said that they were in a state of shock after hearing the news.
One local, who asked not to be named, told the Mirror she is racked with questions of what had happened to the happy family with six kids. The youngest had just turn one, while their eldest boy was in Year 8, she said. “Four or five months ago they moved here,” she added. “I think they were a decent family - a good happy family. It looks like six kids and three adults were living there. I have seen that little girl - it’s just so heartbreaking.
“Police didn’t tell us at first, but we now know she was dead inside. How can parents leave their dead child in the house? I didn’t sleep for the last two nights. I just have so many questions in my mind. I want answers to those questions.”
One man in his 50s, who has lived in the area for 10 years, said: "It's just sad. I was walking to the station to go to work and saw the cordon on the day. I didn't ask anything really in that moment. I was very sad it's a very nice area. Very quiet and safe. I'm surprised that anything like this could happen here such a quiet area.
"There are normally two cars on the drive but yesterday there were no cars and the cordon was going all around the road, with two police cars. They had just redone the drive I think a taxi driver lived there he drove a BMW."
Another neighbour said the family hadn't lived in the house long and were not well known. They said: "It was a shock I learnt about 9 in the morning on the day when I heard there was an incident. The police asked if we had any information. We don't know the family they moved into the house in April and were having work done. The house used to belong to Mind charity as a care home. The area is quiet aside from police and press."
One neighbour, who asked not to be named, told Surrey Live: "We came back from being out of town and there were police here. It's shocking."
Local families have laid flowers outside the 1960s semi, paying tribute to the late youngster. Some of the bunches had notes of condolences attached, while one woman began crying. One note read: "Sweet girl, I'm so sorry that your sparkle was put out too soon". Another person gave "all their love" to the family, writing that they were "devastated" for them.
Surrey Police said yesterday that officers were called to the address at around 2.50am that morning following "concern" for the girl's safety. The child's loved ones have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers, Surrey Police said.
Senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Debbie White, said: "This is a devastating incident, and our officers are working hard to build a picture of what happened. We have identified a number of individuals we would like to speak to as part of our enquiries and at this stage, we are not looking to identify anyone else in connection with our investigation.
"We have no reason to believe there is any risk to the public. There is a significant police presence in Hammond Road and this will remain over the coming days. We appreciate that the police presence will be causing concern and we would like to thank local residents for their co-operation as we conduct our investigation.

A 10-year-old girl found dead at her home last week "fell down the stairs and broke her neck", her uncle claims.
Sara Sharif's uncle Imran Sharif, currently held in police custody in Pakistan for questioning, reportedly told officers the child stumbled down the stairs in the property in Woking, Surrey.
The man has not been charged and is not under arrest, Jhelum police told Sky News tonight. He is, though, said to be assisting police in finding his brother Urfan, who he reportedly claims he hasn't seen.

Sara was discovered at her home in Woking after police were called from Pakistan by her father on Thursday August 10. Her 41-year-old dad Urfan, his partner Beinash Batool, 29, and his 28-year-old brother Faisal Malik are thought to have travelled from the UK to Islamabad the day before - and are wanted for questioning.
The Sara's uncle reportedly told police in Pakistan: "I found out what happened to Sara through the international media. My parents told me Urfan briefly came home very upset. He kept saying 'they' are going to take his children away from him." "They", it is understood, is a reference to British authorities.
"Beinash was home with the children. Sara fell down the stairs and broke her neck. Beinash panicked and phoned Urfan," Imran reportedly told officers.

But Sara's exact cause of death remains unknown.
Surrey Police said a post-mortem revealed that Sara "suffered multiple and extensive injuries", which it said was "likely to have been caused over a sustained and extended period of time".
Surrey County Council has also said Sara was previously known to authorities.
Yesterday, Jacquie Chambers, headteacher of St Mary's C of E primary school in Byfleet - where Sara had been a Year 5 pupil, said she would be "dearly missed" by pupils and teachers.
In a statement reported by the BBC, she said: "She [Sara] was a bubbly, confident little girl who had the most beautiful smile. She was full of ideas and was very passionate about the things she believed in."
Ms Chambers added: "Sara will be dearly missed and, as a school community, we are all deeply affected by this tragedy. Our thoughts, prayers and sympathy are with those affected by this heartbreaking news."

Urfan Sharif, 41, his partner Beinash Batool, 29, and Urfan's brother, Faisal Malik, 28, all of Hammond Road, Woking, have been charged.
They have also each been charged with causing or allowing the death of a child.
Sara's body was found at her home on 10 August.
A post-mortem examination found she had sustained "multiple and extensive injuries".
The three adults left the UK for Pakistan on 9 August.
They were arrested at Gatwick Airport on Wednesday evening after disembarking a flight from Dubai. Early on Friday morning, Surrey Police confirmed they had been charged.
They have been remanded in custody to appear at Guildford Magistrates' Court later on Friday.
Sara's five siblings, aged between one and 13 years old, also travelled to Pakistan on 9 August with Mr Sharif, Ms Batool and Mr Malik.
The children were found by police in Pakistan at the home of Mr Sharif's father on Monday and have since been moved to a government childcare facility in the country.
Surrey Police said Sara's mother, Olga Sharif, had been informed of the latest developments and was being supported by specialist officers.

New images of Sara Sharif have been released by Surrey Police as part of an ongoing investigation.
The 10-year-old's body was found at her home in Woking on 10 August.
Her father, stepmother and uncle appeared at the Old Bailey earlier this week and were told they would face a murder trial next autumn.
"The photos present Sara in the way we believe she may have dressed in the months prior to her death," police said.
"We are hoping that these images will prompt more people to come forward with information about her and her family."
Both images are believed to have been taken in the past year, police said.

However, the actual cause of her death is still yet to be established.
Det Supt Mark Chapman said: "We have released these new images this week in the hope that it will prompt more people who knew Sara and her family to come forward.
"We are grateful to everyone who has already contacted us, and I would like to stress that any information, no matter how insignificant it might seem, is reviewed by the investigation team and further enquiries carried out if appropriate.
"I would urge anyone who may have information and hasn't yet come forward to reach out to us."

They are next due to appear on 1 December for a plea hearing, and will stand trial in September 2024.
On Monday a court heard that after her death, Sara was found to have a "constellation" of healed and healing injuries. They included a broken collarbone, multiple rib fractures and a brain haemorrhage.
Police said posters had also been displayed in and around Woking train station and taxi ranks around the town in both English and Urdu.

A father accused of murdering his daughter in a ?campaign of abuse? told police that he legally punished her and she died, a court heard.
Her father Urfan Sharif, 42, stepmother, Beinash Batool, 30, and uncle, Faisal Malik, 28, appeared for trial at the Old Bailey on Monday accused of her murder.
The court heard that Sara suffered appalling and brutal abuse for weeks and weeks before her death.
Jurors were told that the schoolgirl appeared to have been restrained by being tied to a heating pipe and burned with an iron.
Opening the case, William Emlyn Jones KC, said it was inconceivable that only one of the defendants could have carried out the campaign of abuse without the complicity, participation, assistance and encouragement of others.
He said that the three accused were all pointing the finger at each other and refusing to take responsibility for Saras death.
Ms Batool will claim that her husband was a violent disciplinarian while Mr Sharif will claim that Sara was primarily looked after by his wife, the court heard.
Constellation of Injuries
The court heard that a post-mortem found evidence of an awful constellation of injuries including, puncture wounds, abrasions and extensive bruising all over her body.
The injuries were consistent with significant and repetitive blunt force trauma and the use of an instrument or instruments.
There was also evidence of a significant head injury inflicted more than 48 hours before her death.
Alongside the wounds to her skin, Sara had fractures in both arms, both hands, both shoulder bones, her fingers, her vertebra and her ribs.
Some of the injuries were at least six weeks old, while some were less than ten days old indicating multiple episodes of blunt force trauma over several weeks.
Sara also had fractures in her throat, which the prosecution said implied manual strangulation over a prolonged period.
Mr Emlyn Jones said there were even more disturbing injuries, adding that Sara appeared to have been bitten.
She had five bite marks to her left arm and another on the inner thigh of her left leg.
Tied Up and Restrained
She also had scald burn wounds to her ankles suggesting that she had been tied up and restrained by being tied to a heating pipe in the house.
The court heard that following the Easter school holidays in 2023, Mr Sharif had informed Saras school by email that she was going to be homeschooled.
On the note left beside his daughters body, Sharif also wrote my daughter is Muslim can you bury her like [a] Muslim may be.
The court heard that the clearest evidence of Sara?s exact time of death came from text messages, sent by one of her five siblings.
At 8:38pm on Aug 8, the sibling, who cannot be named for legal reasons, texted a friend saying: Hello. Urgent
In another message, a minute later, they wrote: My sister has just passed away.
Less than half an hour later, the court heard, Ms Batool made a phone call to Southall Travel to request URGENT flights to Pakistan.
Mr Emlyn Jones said it was entirely obvious that just as no medical help had ever been sought for Sara in life, there was no question of a call to seek emergency care in her dying moments.
The court heard that they were captured on CCTV arriving at Heathrow at 10:19am on Aug 9.
Mr Sharif left his car in the short stay car park at the airport unlocked, with the key in the ignition.
The three accused did eventually return to the UK but not until over a month later on Sept 13.
All three defendants have pleaded not guilty to her murder and to causing or allowing the death of a child between Dec 16 2022 and Aug 9 2023.

The court heard that all of the defendants accept that Sara had suffered serious and repeated violence within the family home.

Taxi driver Urfan Sharif, 42, made the admission under cross-examination as his wife Beinash Batool, 30, sobbed in the dock of the Old Bailey on Wednesday.
Sara Sharif was forced to wear make-up and had at least 71 external injuries on her body when she was found dead. He confessed that he had battered the 10-year-old schoolgirl with a cricket bat and a metal pole.
He also accepted that he had beaten her in the days before her death, causing fractures all over her body.
Previously, Sharif had sought to blame Batool for killing his daughter but in a dramatic admission, told jurors: 'I accept every single thing.'
A postmortem examination revealed ten spinal fractures and further fractures to her right collar bone, both shoulder blades, both arms, both hands, three separate fingers, bones near the wrist in each hand, two ribs and her hyoid bone in the neck.
Sharif, Batool and Malik, all deny murder and causing or allowing the death of a child.

At first glance, a home video that showed Sara Sharif singing in front of the TV could have been filmed in any happy household. But on closer inspection it was clear that a small chunk of the little girl?s finger was missing and there was a deep scratch to her nose.
Unseen by the lens were the scores of devastating injuries inflicted on Sara during a years-long campaign of abuse by her father, Urfan Sharif, and stepmother, Beinash Batool.
It is heartbreaking to watch, the prosecutor, William Emlyn Jones KC, told jurors at the Old Bailey after they had been shown the footage.
Beaten black and blue under those clothes, with open burn wounds on her buttocks and ankles, she was still doing her best to have fun, still doing her best to be a child. Moving a little awkwardly, looking rather drawn and hollow-cheeked, but alive at that time, just for a little longer.
Sara died two days later. The full extent of her injuries was not discovered until she was found neatly tucked into a bunk bed at her family home in Woking, Surrey, on 10 August 2023.
A postmortem found she had 71 external injuries, including bruises, burns, and human bite marks. She also had at least 25 fractures, including to the hyoid bone in her neck and 11 to her spine from being beaten with a cricket bat, metal pole and mobile phone.
CUNNING
Sharif, 43, and Batool, 30, were found guilty of murder on Wednesday after a seven-week trial that laid bare the brutal violence he meted out on his daughter.
Sharifs brother Faisal Malik, 29, was convicted of causing or allowing the death of a child.
Sara was born on 11 January 2013 and immediately made subject to a child protection plan due to existing concerns about her parents. She was briefly placed into foster care in 2014 and later a refuge after her biological mother, Olga Domin, accused Sharif of domestic abuse.
Sara returned to live with her father after a family court ruling in October 2019.
A happy, bubbly and sometimes sassy child, she was not afraid to answer back, according to her teachers at St Marys primary in West Byfleet. She could be very spirited and quite bold and fierce with what she wanted to say.
She loved to be on stage and singing and performing, that was her kind of happy place, said Helen Simmons, who taught Sara between the ages of eight and 10.

We?re in a small village in eastern Pakistan, to meet someone who says he can tell us how Sara Sharif?s family managed to hide from police for more than four weeks during an international police hunt.
He was the one who hid them, he tells us.
For nearly a month, police searched for the family of eight - Sara?s father Urfan Sharif, her stepmother Beinash Batool and uncle Faisal Malik, along with five of her siblings.
They had flown to Pakistan on 9 August 2023 - a day before 10-year-old Sara?s battered and lifeless body was found in a bedroom at their home in Woking, Surrey.
Having received a notice from Interpol to locate Sharif, Batool and Malik, police started a high profile search for the family across Pakistan, deploying multiple teams.
They suspected Rasikh Munir, a relative of Urfan Sharifs, of helping them. But during multiple raids on his property, they failed to find the family.
The children were later found at another relatives home. Mr Munir told us that was the moment Sharif, Batool and Malik decided to fly back to England, where they were finally arrested on 13 September 2023.
The BBC has followed the story in Pakistan since the first media reports of Saras death broke.
We met Rasikh Munir before Saras father, uncle and stepmother were put on trial for her murder in London, before the jury heard horrific details of the injuries that Sara had sustained - bite marks, iron burns and injuries caused by hot liquid.
He told us he had believed Sharif was innocent and that he?d taken the family in to protect the children. He also revealed extraordinary details: about how the family had hidden in corn fields when police raided his home at night and how he?d driven them around the local area, buying ice creams and even visiting hairdressers while detectives searched for them.
And remarkably, he said Sharif, Batool and Malik had been hiding in a neighbouring house just metres away from us as we spoke to Saras grandfather shortly after her siblings had been taken away by police

The three appeared at the Old Bailey today for sentencing. Stepmother Batool was sentenced to a minimum term of 33 years, while Uncle Malik received a term of 16 years.
