Newlywed Wife, 21, Found Decapitated in Gruesome Murder Scene as Husband Confesses

The decapitated body of a 21-year-old woman has been found in a gruesome murder scene and her own husband has confessed, police claim.

Authorities in Waller, Texas found the remains of Anggy Diaz in a house where she lived with her husband, whom she married only four months ago, in October 2022.

The husband, Jared Dicus, also 21, has been arrested and charged with Diaz's murder after police said he confessing to her killing.

The victim was a Nicaraguan citizen and was described as undocumented by a sheriff leading the investigation.

Her dismembered body was found in the afternoon of Wednesday, January 11, but she is believed to have been dead since the night before.

The sheriff described the house as filled with blood in a horrifying scene.

Police were called to the property at 4.18pm local time (10.18pm UK time). According to the sheriff, Dicus' father immediately called the police when they found the victim.

He said: "They [the parents] were addressed by the suspect [husband] and when they saw something wasn't feeling right for them, they approached the house that they were living in, and that's when they found what they found.

"It was a portion of a body, dismembered, and a residence that was covered in blood — a gruesome scene, at best."

He added that both sides of these families are going to be altered by the grim details of the murder.

The sheriff went on: "Everything happened on the property. And all parts and pieces were recovered and submitted for evidence."

A knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was also found at the property with Diaz’s severed head.

The sheriff noted that there had been previous reports to the police related to the couple.

He said: "There have been prior calls, disturbance-wise, but nothing to this effect, to this level of violence."

Waller County Judge Trey Duhon, who supposedly married the duo on October 21, described them as a "very nice young couple".

He added that he is "greatly saddened and shocked" by the incident.

In a post on his Facebook page, he said: "I’m sure many of you have heard about an occurrence yesterday in the Oak Hollow area of Waller County where a young man was arrested and charged with murdering his wife.

"This involved a young couple that I married in October of 2022.

During my short time with them, they were a very nice young couple. As with many of you, I’m greatly saddened and shocked by the news of this tragic event and my prayers are with all of their families.

"Out of respect for the families, I have taken down my photo with the couple and the post announcing their marriage, primarily due to the insensitive nature of some comments that were being made on that post.

"This matter will now go through our court system, and I am confident that the Waller County Sheriff’s Office and the Waller County District Attorney’s Office will see to it that justice is served."

An investigation is ongoing.
