Model Helps Mum Escape Jail in Colombia by Distracting Guard in Daring Break Out Plan

An Instagram model helped her mum break out of prison by distracting a guard, prosecutors say.
Aída Victoria Merlano Manzanero is on trial in Colombia facing claims that she helped her mum Aída Merlano Rebolledo to freedom.
It is alleged that model, who is hugely popular on social media, went to a dentists along with her brother to coincide with an appointment for their mum.
Rebolledo, who was jailed for election crimes, arrived with a prison guard who waited outside the appointment room while she went inside alone, prosecutors claim.
Using a rope that had been stored in a rucksack handed to her by her kids that the guard didn't check, Rebolledo made a daring escape out of the window.
Remarkable footage appears to show the disgraced politician abseiling down the side of the three-storey building before being taken away on a motorcycle, Vice World News reports.

She then allegedly fled the country and headed for Venezuela.
While Rebolledo had been breaking out of the dentists Manzanero and her brother chatted to the guard to distract her, it is alleged.
As the authorities looked for Rebolledo, her daughter got busy building her profile, 6ix Buzz reports.
Manzanero posed nude with handcuffs on for a series of racy photos which were published in a magazine under the tagline “The Daughter of the Fugitive Congresswoman Confesses.”
She has bagged herself 2.5million followers on social media where she shows off her lavish lifestyle. The mother was eventually found in Venezuela and brought back to face trial.
Shortly after her election at the age of 38, Rebolledo had been convicted of voter fraud, corruption, and illegal possession of weapons.
She was sentenced to 15 years in a Bogota prison but escaped just over two weeks later.
Now her daughter and dentist, Javier Cely Barajas, are being accused of being potential accomplices in her escape.
In February 2020, Colombian authorities officially charged the two as being “instrumental” in the plan.
Manzanero and Cely Barajas both pleaded innocent when their trial began on Tuesday this week.
Both could face long prison sentences if found guilty.
On Wednesday the influencer posted on Instagram about her trial.
“Despite getting up every day knowing that I can go to jail for 21 years, I am happy because I have the conviction that happiness is a decision that one makes every day,” she said in a video.
“Be happy today because you do not know what will happen tomorrow.”
