FED Judge BLOCKS Musk Team Access to Treasury Dept Records

Federal Judge has blocked Elon Musks Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) from accessing the personal financial data of millions of Americans in Treasury Department records, according to court documents.

District Judge Paul A. Engelmayer issued a preliminary injunction on Saturday to prohibit access, ordering Musk and his team to immediately destroy any copies of records.

The move comes after 19 state attorneys general sued the Trump administration after Doge, a cost-cutting initiative led by Musk, was given access to the records.

They argued access for Musk, a special government employee, and Doge, which is not an official government department, violated federal law.

There was no immediate comment from the White House, Donald Trump or Musk.

The Democratic state attorneys general sued Trump, the Treasury Department and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Friday. Engelmayers order, issued early on Saturday, said the states would face irreparable harm without immediate relief.

That is both because of the risk that the new policy presents of the disclosure of sensitive and confidential information and the heightened risk that the systems in question will be more vulnerable than before to hacking, the order read.

The order restrains the defendants from granting access to Treasury Department records containing personally identifiable or confidential information to special government employees, political appointees, and other employees from outside the department.

The injunction restricts anyone else from accessing those records other than civil servants who need to do so for their work at the Bureau of Fiscal Services and have passed background checks.

The judge further ordered any person among those restricted to immediately destroy copies of records.

The conditions will remain in place until the next court hearing on 14 February.

Tech titan and billionaire Musk has been heavily involved in upheaval during Trumps second term, with Doge leading major cuts at the US Agency for International Development (USAID), which distributes billions of dollars of aid globally.

U.S. Army purged the section that had lauded the late Army sergeant and civil rights leader, who was assassinated by a white supremacist in Jackson in 1963.

The decision to erase Evers came after an executive order by Trump to eliminate all Diversity, Equality and Inclusion programs.

Former Mississippi Supreme Court Justice Reuben Anderson said he cant imagine the president would want Evers removed. That?s got to be a mistake, he said. That involves a great American who served in the military and was one of the most courageous Americans of all time.

Evers is far from the only war veteran whose name has been struck from the website. So was Army Maj. Gen. Charles Calvin Rogers, who was awarded the Medal of Honor in the Vietnam War.

He got shot three times in Vietnam and survived, said U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson. History has not been kind to minorities, whether women, people of colour or religious groups. Part of what we do in the greatest democracy known to man is to correct the record.

The Mississippi Democrat said if Trump truly cared about veterans, it wouldnt have fired 80,000 people from the Department of Veterans? Affairs.

DOGE Resorts to GUNS

Rachel Maddow sounded off Monday night on what she called a more worrying development in Donald Trump and Elon Musks DOGE led dismantling of the federal government and raised the possibility that the cost cutting agency is slowing morphing into an Army.

Maddow went after the Trump administration over reports that DOGE staffers accompanied by what were reportedly claimed to be 'US Marshals' had FORCED their way inside the US African Development Foundation.

That followed reporting that DOGE had broken into the building of the nonprofit US Institute of Peace after trying unsuccessfully to gain entry

The alarming unauthorized entries into the private, independent agencies? buildings which are both detached from the executive branch sent Maddow into a fierce rebuke of the administration with guns blazing.

There are legitimate legal disputes as to whether this DOGE group has any legal authority over some of these agencies that they're trying to get into, so they can take over their systems and fire their staff and shut them down, Maddow said.

Those disputes are legal disputes that need to be sorted out legally.
