Responding to Donald Trump's onslaught of racist attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris' ethnic heritage, MSNBC presented viewers on Friday morning with a super clip of the former president questioning his opponents on race and indulging in bitherism. As part of the clip, Trump can be seen battling former Rep. George Miller (D-CA) over Native American casinos in 1993 that Trump felt would hurt his own casino business interests.
In the exchange, Miller pressed Trump, "Is this you, discussing Indian blood: ‘We’re going to judge people by whether they have Indian blood whether they’re qualified to run a casino or not?’”
"That probably is me, absolutely. Because, I’ll tell you what. If you look at some of the reservations that you’ve approved, that you, sir in your great wisdom have approved, I'll tell you right now, they don’t look like Indians to me,” Trump shot back.
He then argued, "And they don’t look like the Indians. Now, maybe we say politically correct or not politically correct, they don’t look like Indians to me, and they don’t look like Indians to Indians. A lot of people are laughing at it. You're telling how tough it is, rough it is, to get approved, When you go up to Connecticut, they don't look like Indians to me, sir."
That led Miller to lecture the future president, "Thank God that’s not the test of whether or not people have rights in this country or not – whether or not they pass your ‘look’ test. "
Following the clip, MSNBC's Ana Cabrera noted, "Congressman George Miller of California, who confronted Trump in that 1993 clip, said that was the most irresponsible testimony he had heard in his 40 years in Congress."

Reflecting on Donald Trump's doubling down on his attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris' racial makeup, Washington Post columnist Eugene Robinson speculated on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" that there seems to be something deeply wrong with the former president.
With fill-in host Jonathan Lemire sharing Trump's smears of Harris on his Truth Social platform, the "Morning Joe" panel agreed Trump may not realize how bad it is making him look.
After MSNBC regular Mike Barnicle called Trump a "badly, deeply damaged individual," Robinson pounced.
"I would absolutely agree. Beneath all that bluster, who am I to diagnose him?" the journalist admitted. "I'm not a psychologist, but there is clearly some deep insecurity and feeling of inadequacy that causes him to continually lash out and puff himself up and adopt this air of infallibility, which is absurd."
"But that's who he is," he continued. "I think he is a really, really damaged person, and, you know, because of that and for a lot of other reasons, he's really dangerous. And he proved that in four years as president. He would prove it again if he were ever allowed near the White House again."

Donald Trumps ground game operation in crucial battleground states is now largely outsourced to America Pac, the political action committee backed by the billionaire Elon Musk, according to multiple people familiar with the situation.
The Trump campaign gambled with its voter turnout efforts for the 2024 cycle and outsourced it to Super Pacs, while it targeted its focus on turning out Trump supporters in rural areas who typically do not vote.
But while the Trump campaign once predicted having multiple Pacs doing get-out-the-vote work, with six weeks until the election, only America Pac has a material presence of 300 to 400 paid and part-time people knocking on doors in each of the seven battleground states, the people said.
America Pac also remains the only entity ? Trump campaign or otherwise ? with a target to do three ?passes? of homes of likely Trump voters in every battleground state before election day.
And since the Trump campaign does not have its own mass field operation ? it has a new model of ?Trump 47 Captains?, volunteers targeting likely Trump supporters who do not typically vote ? the campaign has little backup if America Pac hits snags.
Last week, America Pac fired the company it had retained in Arizona and Nevada to do door-knocking and canvassing.
The move to terminate the September Group had damaging consequences for Trump as America Pac lost several days of canvassing while they sought a replacement company, and lost at least some of the roughly 300 people they hired in each state.

Trump hosted a rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend Trump also welcomed Musk to the stage, and the social media company owner was ridiculed for his "DULL useless" performance.
Before that, Musk posted the following statement to his account on X, formerly called Twitter.
"Super important to get all your friends and family to register to vote," Musk wrote. "Georgia?s registration deadline is Monday!!"
Musks own mother, Maye Musk, took that comment even further:
"The Democrats have given us another option. You dont have to register to vote," she wrote Saturday. "On Election Day, have 10 fake names, go to 10 polling booths and vote 10 times. Thats 100 votes, and its not illegal. Maybe we should work the system too."
This prompted some extreme reactions.
Civil rights attorney Andrew C Laufer said, "That is illegal. Do you have any credible evidence Democrats are engaging in that practice"
Lawyer Tirah Att also chimed in:
"It is, of course, completely illegal to do what you suggest. I?m not sure if you thought you were making a joke, but if so, it?s not particularly amusing."
Bloomberg reporter Steven Dennis told her, "This is super illegal."
Radio host and journalist Kai Ryssdal replied, "Federal crime, right here."
Special correspondent Molly Jong-Fast said, "This is voter fraud."
Hundreds of other users tagged the FBI and other law enforcement agencies.
Even far-right influencer Joey Mannarino warned her:
"Be careful with this post. They arrest people for stuff like this. They arrested some meme guy. But these people are human scum and could try and prosecute. You?re too much of a treasure to see go through that!"

The company, known as Twitter before it was purchased by billionaire Elon Musk, says a nondisclosure order that blocked it from telling Trump about the warrant obtained by special counsel Jack Smith?s team violated its First Amendment rights.
The company also argues Trump should have had a chance to exert executive privilege. If not reined in, the government could use similar tactics to invade other privileged communications, their lawyers argued.
Two nonpartisan electronic privacy groups also weighed in, encouraging the high court to take the case on First Amendment grounds.
Prosecutors, though, say the company never showed Trump had used the account for official purposes so executive privilege wouldn't be an issue. A lower court also found that telling Trump could have jeopardized the ongoing investigation.

In a nearly two-hour interview with Tucker Carlson, Musk and the far right-wing host wisecracked about both his original post and his thoughts that led to the now-removed tweet.
After laughing about what will happen to Musk if Donald Trump loses his presidential bid, Musk suggested he will be imprisoned and wondered if he will see his children.
"I've been trashing Kampala nonstop," Musk told Carlson, appearing to pronounce the Vice Presidents name incorrectly. "Well, the Kamala puppet, I call her, you know, the machine that the Kampala puppet represents."
"I made a joke, which I realized I deleted, which is like, 'nobody's even bothering to try to kill Kamala, because it's pointless'," Musk said, laughing with Carlson. "What do you achieve? Nothing. Just buy another puppet."
"Nobody's trying to kill Joe Biden," Musk added. "It would be pointless."
"Some people interpreted it as I was, as though I was calling for people to assassinate her," Musk explained. "But I was like, but I was like, doesn't it seem strange that no one's even bothered to try?" he asked, laughing.
"Nobody tries to assassinate a puppet," Musk concluded.
The Daily Beast reports Musk is a "longtime financier of Republican causes," and "joined Trump last Saturday for his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania the site of Julys assassination attempt. After jumping around on stage a move that he was widely mocked for on his own site the X CEO dished out some fear-mongering about how, if Trump doesnt win, 'this will be the last election.'"
Back in February The Wall Street Journal described Musk's SpaceX as "a major national-security contractor" that "is deepening its ties with U.S. intelligence and military agencies." The company has "a $1.8 billion classified contract with the U.S. government."
"The Pentagon has more recently done business with SpaceX?s Starlink broadband service, including agreements to pay for Ukrainian internet links during Ukraine?s war with Russia," The Journal also reported, noting Starlink has a $70 million U.S. military contract.
The Musk-Carlson interview dropped Monday night, garnering 5 million views in about 13 hours. It prompted many to express outrage, anger over the violent rhetoric, and concern over a military government contractor joking about presidential assassinations. Some said they believed the FBI or Secret Service should get involved.

America Pac said to be doing bulk of Trumps voter turnout work in battleground states, which may give Musk leverage
Elon Musk donated roughly $75m over the last three months to America Pac, the political action committee he founded that is supporting Donald Trump?s 2024 presidential campaign, as he seeks to gain an outsized influence in Republican politics and a possible second Trump administration.
Filings submitted by America Pac on Tuesday to the Federal Election Commission showed Musk donated $15m in July, $30m in August and another $30m in September. Musk remains the political action committees only donor.
America Pac has quietly become the principal ground game partner for the Trump campaign, doing the bulk of the voter turnout work across the battleground states, according to people familiar with the matter.
America Pacs presence of roughly 400 canvassers per state dwarfs that of the Trump campaign itself, as well as other groups involved in voter turnout. It is also the only group with ambitions to complete three ?passes? of target voters before the November election.
If Trump wins on account of America Pacs field operation, it could give Musk increased leverage over him.

The commitment, which started on Saturday as Musk handed a lottery-style check to the first winner of his contest at a town hall event, could mean Musk is on the hook for $17m if he remains the sole donor to his own Pac.
The America Pac petition is for any registered voter in Pennsylvania to pledge their support for the first and second amendments. The petition effectively encourages Trump voters to register to vote so they can be in the $1m draw.
Attendees of Saturdays town hall event had to sign the petition, which allows America Pac to garner contact details for more potential voters that it can work to get to the polls for Trump.
The petition does not require signers to be a Republican; any Democrat registered to vote in Pennsylvania could sign it too.
Musks event in Harrisburg on Saturday was the third in as many days in Pennsylvania, where Musk is painting Novembers election in stark terms and encouraging supporters to vote early and get others to do the same.

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk ? the worlds wealthiest man ? has come out harshly against undocumented immigrants since becoming one of former President Donald Trump's biggest donors and campaign surrogates. But a new report reveals that he launched his career in the United States without legal status.
The Washington Post is now reporting that Musk was illegally staying in the U.S. on a student visa despite dropping out of school. While Musk, who is from South Africa, emigrated to attend Stanford University, he called his department chair shortly after the fall 1995 semester began to inform him that he wouldn't be attending classes.
At that point, Musk was legally obligated to leave the United States, according to the Post. But instead, he illegally overstayed his visa while building his first company, Zip2 (originally called the Global Link Information Network).
Eventually, venture capital firm Mohr Davidow Ventures made a $3 million investment into Zip2 in 1996. Upon learning that both Musk and his brother, Kimbal, didn't have legal status to be in the United States, the funding agreement included a clause that stipulated Mohr could claw back its investment if the two didn't obtain a legal work visa within 45 days. The next time someone dies after Trump summons a violent mob and tells them to fight, or succumbs after Trump encourages hate rally attendees to ?beat the hell? out of them, you could face liability as a co-defendant and/or co-conspirator.
If Trump is re-elected, he will enjoy expansive legal immunities you do not have. Even if he appoints you to regulate federal agencies you resent having to answer to, actions you undertake between now and January 6, 2025, are as a private citizen, not as a federal employee. An appointed position where you get to regulate your corporate regulatorsmay not confer the tort immunities you hope for in any event.
You and your counsel may want to brush up on the following:
Election Crimes
Federal law makes it a crime to offer money in an attempt to sway people to vote. 52 U.S.C. 10307(c) states that ?Whoever knowingly or willfully ? pays or offers to pay or accepts payment either for registration to vote or for voting shall be fined not more than $10,000 or imprisoned not more than five years, or both?,? as the warning letter you just received from the Justice Department suggested.
The DOJ Election Crimes Manual specifies that an election bribe may be anything having monetary value, including cash and lottery chances.
When you announced that America PAC will be awarding $1 million every day until the election to a registered swing state voter who signs your petition on the 1st and 2nd amendment, you were clearly targeting Republican voters.
(BTW, your schtick of ?free speech absolutism? is asinine; the 1st A has never protected election fraud, consumer fraud, disinformation fraud of any type, threats, speech integral to criminal conduct, verbal assault, libel, defamation, incitement to criminality, conspiracy, or incitement to violence, but I digress.)
Your X activities are partially shielded from liability under Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, but there are other applicable laws, including FEC regulations on in-kind campaign contributions. You paid $47 apiece to people who found others to sign a petition, which helped Trump target voters.
You have spent in excess of $75 million on the pro-Trump America PAC. According to Open Secrets, you are also behind a disinformation initiative called Progress 2028, claiming ties to Kamala Harris, which is actually run by your own dark money network. ?Building America?s Future,? the dark money group at the helm, reportedly received over $100 million in funding from you and other donors.
Aiding and Abetting Acts of Violence
Your legal exposure for abetting acts of violence may be even greater. Disinformation on X since you bought it is well documented, and has helped fuel racist far-right riots and attacks.
It?s only a matter of time before you?re sued for the violence and solicitation of violence you?re helping Trump promote. The law has long held that a person who aids and abets a crime is generally criminally liable to the same extent as the person who commits the crime.
Encouraging political violence before, during or after the election will also subject you to laws governing criminal incitement. Manipulating algorithms, amplifying calls on X and elsewhere that encourage militia members and extremists to intimidate voters, or spreading enthusiasm for a ?civil war? like you did in the UK, will support claims against you when they lead, predictably, to violence.
Dozens of cases invoking Trump in connection with violent criminal acts have already been identified; it?s only a matter of time before someone else gets killed. Bullets fired into the Democratic Party office in Phoenix, AZ last week are only the most recent example.
The buildings glass front door was shattered by bullet spray; anyone sitting behind it would have been killed. The perpetrator, an extreme MAGA supporter, had more than 120 guns, 250,000 rounds of ammunition and a grenade launcher at his home.
History of Trump-Inspired Violence as Prologue
You may protest that grenades and partisan acts of violence are too speculative to pin on you, or, alternatively, that you had no idea Trump would make good on his serial promises of retribution. But the civil law standard for ordinary negligence is simple: if you knew, or should have known, that someone (including Trump) would carry out Trump?s call for violence, you may be found liable for amplifying that call.
Whether references to violence are genuine threats or merely rhetorical depends on context and the surrounding circumstances. Here, there can be no doubt that Trump means it, as evidenced by his encouragement for the J6 mob and his failure to call them off for more than 3 hours while he watched them.
Even if you and Trump claim you didn?t ?intend? for MAGA supporters to commit acts of violence, the Supreme Court recently held that recklessness in using violent rhetoric is sufficient to support liability for violence that ensues.
You also may think that manipulating algorithms, posting/liking/re-posting disinformation, or amplifying calls for violence against Democrats is not enough to sustain legal liability. But a defendant who shares in the criminal desires of the principal, and acts in some affirmative manner in aid is liable, and the level of participation may be relatively slight.
It is not hard to satisfy once the defendant's knowledge of the unlawful intent is established, and if you read any news outside the Fox bubble, you cannot lack knowledge that Trump intends to orchestrate fresh political violence.
To more fully preclude your ?But I couldn?t have predicted violence? defense, Trumps own high ranking military officials have warned that Trumps calls for violence are real. Retired General Mark Milley and his wife have faced constant death threats following Trump?s incitements.
You are also no doubt aware that Trump has made public comments calling half the American people ?the enemy within;? if you weren?t aware before, you are now. Within the last two weeks, Trump has promised to prioritize the prosecution of U.S. citizens using military force if necessary.
His threat to sic the military on political rivals is the stuff of murderous regimes; Trumps recently surfaced wish for generals who were ?more like Hitler?s generals? surprised exactly no-one on the left.
Dark Money, Dark Influence
Because you have been a great technology innovator, too many young men presume you are smarter than they are about other things, which elevates your actions on X to recklessness. After you bought Twitter, you restored accounts of far-right figures including white nationalist Nick Fuentes and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.
You also relaxed content moderation policies and terminated most of the company?s trust and safety and election integrity teams. If you didn?t intend to endanger people, at minimum it would appear reckless to a jury.
When you then post pro-Trump disinformation on your own account with nearly 200 million followers, and place the disinformation into users? feeds as ?recommended content? whether they want it or not, you exceed the bounds of protected ?political speech.?
You lured Trump back onto the platform after he was banned previously for incitement to violence following the J6 attack, so there is no way you can plead ignorance--Trump was banned for inciting violence by your own corporate predecessor.
In sum, Trump has been given a get out of jail card from the Supreme Court, but you have not, and Trump cannot pardon anyone for state crimes and judgements.
Govern yourself accordingly.

D A Larry Krasner of Philadelphia filed a lawsuit to stop Elon Musk and his Trump-supporting organization, America PAC, from continuing their $1 million daily giveaway in Pennsylvania, calling it an illegal lottery scheme to influence voters in the presidential election.

The Philadelphia district attorneys office sued Tesla CEO Elon Musk over his political action committees $1 million a day giveaway to registered voters in swing states, alleging it violates consumer protection laws and is designed to interfere in the upcoming Presidential Election.
Under the scheme, voters in swing states could be eligible to win a $1 million daily cash prize up until Election Day if they sign a petition in support of the First and Second Amendment of the Constitution?free speech and gun rights, respectively.
Philadelphia District Attorney Lawrence Krasner called for an immediate injunction to stop the America PAC and Musk from operating what he called an illegal lottery and from engaging in deceptive practices in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The lawsuit, dated Monday, names both Musk and his America PAC as defendants.

After Musk donated $10 MIL to get Trump re-elected, Elon Musk has been appointed to co-lead Donald Trumps "Department of Government Efficiency - or Doge for short - set up to slash government spending.
We know very little about exactly what the body will do, where it will sit against formal government structures, and how much power it will wield - but in an hours-long posting spree on X, Musk offers some sweeping indications.
He's calling Doge Americas last chance and claims the country will go bankrupt without it, adding: "Threat to democracy? Nope, threat to BUREAUCRACY"
One post, that Musk re-shared, alleged that $750,000 of tax is used for the New York Metropolitan Opera fire alarm.
In another, Senator Rand Paul's claim that the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases spent $477,121 to study HIV in transgender monkeys is cited.
Musk says Doge's actions will be posted online for transparency, and there will be a leader board for the "most insanely dumb spending of your tax dollars". He claims 99 federal agencies is "more than enough" - there are currently over 400 agencies and sub-agencies.

Musk is a free speech absolutist, with the platform mirroring the views of its CEO. In recent months, several hate speakers previously banned have now been reinstated after he bought the company back in 2022. Among the controversial figures are TRUMP, Andrew Tate and far-right activist Tommy Robinson.
Last week, The Guardian announced that it would be joining several anti hate speech NGOs to halt its activities on the platform. Bluesky - an app created by former Twitter chief Jack Dorsey - claims to have welcomed as many as one million users each day in recent weeks as left-leaning users search for a more progressive alternative.

Delaware judge has rejected Teslas bid to ram through a humongous pay package for its CEO Elon Musk after striking it down once already earlier this year.
Judge Kathleen McCormick ruled in January that the proposed $56bn bonanza originally offered by Teslas board had violated shareholders' rights because the entire "negotiation" process was effectively controlled by Musk.
Afterwards, Tesla quickly moved to ratify the payout ? described in court documents as the largest ever seen in public markets ? via a shareholder vote, then asked the court to approve it after all.
But on Monday Judge McCormick flatly denied that motion in a scathing judgement, describing the electric car makers legal arguments as "fatally flawed" and at times "indefensible".
"The large and talented group of defense firms got creative with the ratification argument, but their unprecedented theories go against multiple strains of settled law," she wrote.
"Novelty is not necessarily damning, but defendants? novel request flies in the face of the policy bases for all relevant rules of procedure."
McCormick also rejected an equally massive and unprecedented bid by the plaintiffs lawyers to receive their legal fees in the form of $5.6bn in Tesla stock, which McCormick described as "a bold ask".
