Movies Russian Captain of Container Ship Solong Charged With Manslaughter

Ships on Fire off Humber River UK Containership Solong Struck US Flagged Tanker Stena Immaculate

Coastguard Scrambled as Oil Tanker and Cargo Vessel Collide in North Sea

US tanker Stena Immaculate and container vessel Solong reportedly caught fire with crews forced to abandon ship near Hull

AP 10 MAR 2025

Both ships are now believed to be on fire.. Thick plumes of black smoke are seen billowing into the air

An oil tanker has burst into flames after it was hit by a cargo vessel off the coast of the UK.

The US-flagged MC Stena Immaculate oil tanker which was reportedly carrying a full load of jet fuel - was anchored in the Humber Estuary in Hull when the Portugal-flagged Solong cargo vessel ploughed into it. The crew abandoned both ship at the time of the crash, which happened just before 10am this morning.

Coastguard rescue helicopters have been deployed from their base in Humberside. Lifeboats from Skegness, Bridlington, Mablethorpe and Cleethorpes have also been sent. A fixed-wing aircraft, and other firefighting vessels, are also being deployed, the BBC reports.

Images from the scene show a huge cloud of black, acrid smoke covering the horizon line, where the two ships are stranded, as the deadly blaze continues to rage.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution confirmed that both ships were on fire, and that people abandoned the ship after the collision.

Describing it as an ongoing incident, the UK Coastguard said in a statement: HM Coastguard is currently co-ordinating the emergency response to reports of a collision between a tanker and cargo vessel off the coast of East Yorkshire.

Enviromental CATASTROPHE That Will Affect Marine Life For Years

36 casualties have been brought ashore after a cargo vessel collided with an oil tanker in the North Sea. One crew member MISSING and both vessels STILL ablaze off the coast of east Yorkshire UK.

BBC 11 MAR 2025

ECOLOGICAL DISASTER For Environment, Especially For Marine Life

A Coastguard helicopter and other aircraft were deployed alongside lifeboats from Skegness, Bridlington, Maplethorpe and Cleethorpes to attend the scene.

The RNLI said a number of people had abandoned ship with both now ablaze and the incident ongoing.

They must have sent a mayday out luckily there was a crew transfer vessel out there already. Since then there has been a flotilla of ambulances to pick up anyone they can find.

BBC explores how a ship carrying a highly-toxic chemical hit a tanker in the North Sea that was transporting jet fuel for the US military.

The incident occurred before 10:00 GMT on Monday, with the Stena Immaculate tanker apparently hit while at anchor by the container Solong, tracking data analysed by BBC Verify suggests.

Thirty-six people have been brought ashore and no-one has needed to go to hospital. But one of the 14 crew members on the Solong cargo ship is missing, the vessels owner Ernst Russ has said.

Update Russian Captain of Container Ship Solong Charged With Manslaughter

Russian Captain of Container Ship Remanded in Custody Charged With Manslaughter Over Crash in North Sea Crash with US Oil Tanker STENA

The Russian captain of a container ship which crashed into a US oil tanker and killed a 38 year old crew member has been remanded in custody after being charged with gross negligence manslaughter.

MailOnline 15 MAR 2025

The Stena Immaculate was carrying 142,000 barrels of jet fuel which led to a 'massive fireball' following the crash and potentially devastating environmental consequences.

The court heard how all 23 people on the tanker were rescued along with 13 of 14 crew members from the Solong but Mark Angelo Pernia - a 38-year-old Filipino national - could not be located.

The Crown Prosecution Service previously confirmed that Mr Pernia died following the collision between the two vessels.

There was no application for bail and Motin was remanded in custody by deputy chief magistrate Tan Ikram, who appeared via videolink.

No pleas were entered. Motin will appear next at the Old Bailey on April 14.
