25-Year-Old Clings to Life After Being Buried Alive on Bribie Island Australia

Unimaginable' horror faced by family of young man who was 'buried alive' on Bribie Island: Friends share heartbreaking update

BBC 6 DEC 2023

A young man left fighting for life after he was buried alive in sand on Bribie Island fell into a hole which had been dug in order to cook a pig, it can be revealed.

Queensland Paramedics and an RACQ LifeFlight rescue helicopter crew were called to help Josh Taylor, 25, after he fell into a hole and was buried in sand on Bribie Island, north of Brisbane, just before 2pm on Saturday.

Paramedics spent two hours at the scene trying to revive Mr Taylor, who was without a pulse for 45 minutes.

He remains in critical condition.

Witness Nathan, who was among those who helped dig Mr Taylor out told Seven News that the 1.5metre hole had been dug so a pig could be cooked under the sand.

'He stood up off the chair, the sand had given away a little bit underneath him,' he said.
