HORROR as Boy, 8, Falls 328ft Into Volcanic Sinkhole Crater While on Holiday With Family
After falling over 300ft, doctors have said it was "something miraculous" that the eight-year-old escaped with no major injuries. BBC NEWS 12 JUL 2023 ![]() The devastating incident happened while the young boy was holidaying with his family An eight-year-old boy slipped and fell into a volcanic sinkhole crater, but miraculously survived the 328ft tumble. The boy was on holiday with his family on a remote tropical island when the horrific incident unfolded. The French boy, who is said to have suffered head injuries, was visiting the Los Gemelos, a pair of craters on Santa Cruz Island, when he slipped and fell on July 7. Galápagos National Park said in a statement on Facebook: “The details of the fall are still unknown, but fortunately the quick action of rescuers trained for these emergencies managed to pull him out of the bottom of the more than 100 metres [328 feet] crater.”
