A recruitment manager who hid his public persona to lead a secret double life as a paedophile called 'The Devil' has been jailed for 18 years.

Barry Hudson-Muscroft, 33, appeared to be the perfect husband who would would raise money for cancer charities.

But unbeknown to his wife, family and friends he used the online profile "Diablo-1987" - Diablo is Spanish for the devil - to boast of his preference for abusing young children.

During one incident Hudson-Muscroft filmed himself raping a baby then shared images of horrific abuse across the world during online Kik messages on a paedophile group named

"XXXXXXXXXX (No Limits)." -NAME REMOVED...

He bragged of abusing babies as they "couldn't talk" and added: "I'm into all sorts, young, anything from 0 - 15 mainly into girls but have been with guys before...but the guys were older."

Hudson-Muscroft, who works in the hospitality sector, was arrested after a US deputy sheriff working undercover to expose paedophiles alerted the FBI to his horrific pictures and messages and British detectives swooped on his £220,000 home in Prestwich, Manchester.

Inquiries revealed he had been secretly communicating with youngsters as young as 12 from the UK and the US over a four-year period and swapped explicit messages and images with them.

In a statement Hudson-Muscroft's wife who has since left him told police of how her husband's dark secret had had a "devastating impact" and that her life and others had been "torn apart by his deception."

It is feared the child will suffer severe mental health problems in later life.

At Minshull Street Crown Court, Hudson-Muscroft was branded an ongoing danger to the public by a judge and told he had "plumbed the depths of depravity" after he admitted rape, sexual assault, making and distributing indecent images and attempted sexual communications with children.

He will be on licence until 2044 under the terms of an extended sentence and was ordered to sign the Sex Offender Register and abide by a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for life.

He was further banned from contacting his his estranged wife under the terms of a restraining order.

The offences were discovered after university educated Hudson-Muscroft led an apparently respectable life - formerly working as an events manager for a top hotel chain before moving into recruitment.

Mr Alaric Bassano prosecuting said: "His wife, with whom he had been in a relationship for 16 years - 10 years living together and married for two and a half years - described their relationship as a normal, happy one without any problems at all.

"She viewed him as loving and caring but the reality was somewhat different.

"He joined a paedophile sharing group and the evidence reveals serious depravity on his part and offending of the utmost gravity.

"He had a longstanding and deep seated sexual interest in children."

The rape occurred after Hudson-Muscroft managed to get access to a baby. He abused the distressed child before sending images of the attacks to 37 other people online.

Mr Bassano added: "In one online conversation the defendant quipped that it was expedient for him to have a victim who was unable to talk and offered to further abuse the child in a manner specified by the other person in return for like images, effectively inciting child abuse abroad.

"Unfortunately for him one of the people he was communicating with was an undercover Deputy Sheriff in USA.

"The undercover US official found paedophiles were using private groups on Kik Messenger to share indecent images of children. One such group was "Share Bears (No Limits)". The defendant's user name was "Diablo_1987", a fitting name, perhaps chosen by him to entice the interest of similarly depraved people.

"On that group he sent several images still and moving and they were seen and commented on by others in the group - one praising him for his 'vids'.

"The FBI immediately notified UK police who arrested the defendant. His phones were examined and revealed all the offences and offending conversations."

His phone was examined and found to have 5000 indecent images of children downloaded over the previous four years.

Hudson-Muscroft later accepted the Diablo user name was his but initially denied wrongdoing.

In mitigation his lawyer Mark Friend said: "He recognises his offending will be met with revulsion by any right thinking individual.

"It was a quite prodigious fall from grace and he accepts there are very significant issues he must deal with.

"He was hard working man but living a dual life.

"One was online based and seemingly undertaken when he was inebriated and then there was the reality - a man with a full time job with responsibilities and a marriage.

"When he was apprehended that online fantasy existence was perhaps in control of him rather than he being in control of it."

Sentencing Judge Maurice Greene told Hudson-Muscroft: "You had entrenched feelings of sexual attraction toward young children and the offences you committed can only be described as plumbing the depths of depravity.

"You present a serious risk of harm to children. You were part of a paedophile sharing group and there is a pattern of depraved sexual offending over a number of years."
