California Gov. Gavin Newsom revealed a telling detail Wednesday of a private meeting between him and Donald Trump earlier this year that he said made clear the presidents plans for 2028.

This is serious guys? He tried to light democracy on fire, he dialed for almost 12,000 votes, now he's doing it in plain sight and people say oh, just Trump being Trump. People actually think this guys serious about having another election?

Trump is already selling Trump 2028 hats on his official Trump Store website, priced at $50 each, and has hinted at a third term in office on numerous occasions.

A lot of people want me to do it, Trump said back in April, regarding the idea of serving a third term. There are methods which you could do it.

Newsom, taking the president at his word, said Trumps history spoke for itself as far as whether the presidents potential bid for a third term should be taken seriously.

Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom is responding after Donald Trump announced that he will direct the U.S. Department of Justice to sue California over its plan to put new congressional maps before voters, a move state officials say is a response to Trumps directive requiring Texas to redraw its maps to create five additional Republican districts.

Newsom had warned that if Texas succeeded, he would move to have his state?s maps redrawn. Texas did, and last week, state lawmakers passed legislation that will ask voters this November to approve the redrawn maps.

Trump when asked by a reporter if there is a federal mechanism he could use to fight back against Newsoms redistricting, despite having ordered Texas to redistrict, Trump referred to the California governor as Gavin NEWSCUM

He then replied, Well, I think Im going to be filing a lawsuit pretty soon and I think we're going to be very successful in it.

We're going to be filing it through the Department of Justice. Thats going to happen, Trump vowed

U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer ruled their actions violated an 1878 law that generally bars federal troops from participating in civilian law enforcement. The ruling comes as Trump publicly discusses putting troops in Chicago.


'This was intentional Defendants instigated a months long deployment of the National Guard and Marines to Los Angeles for the purpose of establishing a military presence there and enforcing federal law. Such conduct is a serious violation of the Posse Comitatus Act', Breyer wrote.


Although most of the troops are no longer deployed in the city, the judges order blocks any remaining ones from making arrests and searches or conducting traffic patrols and riot control until the government meets a valid legal exception.

Breyer paused his order until 12 Sept. providing the administration with an avenue to appeal before it goes into effect. An appeals court blocked a previous Breyer order that found Trump illegally federalized the National Guard and must hand back control to California Gov. Gavin Newsom

The military will remain in Los Angeles. This is a false narrative and a misleading injunction, acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli wrote on the social platform X. The military has never engaged in direct law enforcement operations here in LA.

Trump deployed several thousand National Guard troops and hundreds of Marines to Los Angeles in June as protests erupted in the city over the administrations immigration crackdown, turning violent in some cases.

It sparked a major confrontation between Trump and Newsom, who has leaned into his role as a visible Trump foe to energize Democrats eager to see members of their party fight back at the president.

However, CNN host John Berman disputed this claim on Tuesday, noting that Chicago is not even included in the top 10 U.S. cities with the worst violent crime rates.

Trump issued a statement on crime in Chicago with a new threat to have federal involvement to battle that crime. He called Chicago, The worst and most dangerous city in the world by far, and said, I will solve the crime problem fast, just like I did in DC, Chicago will soon be safe again, Berman said.

Now it is important to note that Chicago does not rank in the top 10 of cities in the US in terms of violent crime rates. Doesnt even rank in the top 20 of cities with populations of 250,000 or more, he said.

And there are a lot of cities in red states where Trump is not suggesting sending the National Guard are taking over federal involvement. Memphis, Nashville, you have cities in Missouri as well.
