For years, Mexico has allowed the United States deportation flights to cross over its airspace when flying undocumented immigrants back to their home countries without incident. But thats apparently no longer the case, according to a new report.



On Friday, NBC News found that Mexico refused a U.S. military plane access to its airspace when flying migrants to Guatemala. And as American Immigration Council senior fellow Aaron Reichlin-Melnick noted, another Central American country appears to have also not allowed the United States to fly over its airspace, given the flight's unusually circuitous route.

This deportation flight had to go all the way around the Yucatan first, and then it went through Costa Rica, suggesting Honduras may also have denied permission, Reichlin-Melnick posted to Bluesky. He observed that countries declining to accommodate the U.S. by granting it access to its airspace could be a result of them perceiving his use of military C-130 planes as an insult.

Trump Press Secretary Hid Over US300K in Debt Tied to Inappropriate Donations

Trumps latest press secretary is facing questions after a last-minute FEC filing on Thursday reportedly showed she had been hiding debt related to her failed run for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2022.

According to a report from Claire Heddles from NOTUS, 27-year-old Karoline Leavitt submitted revised campaign disclosure paperwork that shows she owes more than US300K that must be paid back due to campaign finance violations.

The report states that approximately US200,000 must be repaid to contributors who appear to have made donations far beyond legal limits, adding, Those excessive contributions went unreported for years.

Donald Trump forged ahead with military deportation flights on Monday, sending another planeload of migrants to Guatemala a day after coming to the brink of a trade war with Colombia when it refused to let C-17 aircraft land.

Two U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the aircraft landed in Guatemala on Monday afternoon after a flight from Texas. A Guatemalan official told Reuters the military transport plane had 64 people on board.

As U.S.-Colombia tensions simmer, Bogota announced on Monday it was sending Colombian air force planes to the United States to pick up migrants that Trump tried to deport. The move, which Colombia said was a win-win cast doubt on White House assertions on Sunday that Bogota had relented to Trumps demands, agreeing to accept U.S. military deportation flights.






Trump, speaking at his Doral golf club to Republican lawmakers, vowed his unprecedented use of military aircraft for deportations would continue, and portrayed Sundays standoff with Colombia as a victory in his immigration crackdown.

The flight attendant, a young woman who went by the nickname Lala, said she grabbed the planes emergency oxygen bottle and rushed past rows of migrants chained at the wrists and ankles to reach the girl and her parents.



Reporting Highlights

Unexpected Role: Flight attendants were told they would fly rock bands, sports teams and sunseekers. Then Global Crossing Airlines started expanding into federal deportation flights.


Human Struggles: Some flight attendants said they ignored orders not to interact with detainees. Id say hola back, said one flight attendant. We're not jerks.


Safety Concerns: Flight attendants received training in how to evacuate passengers but said they werent told how to usher out detainees whose hands and legs were bound by shackles.


Lala was accustomed to the hard realities of working charter flights for Immigration and Customs Enforcement. She?d learned to obey instructions not to look the passengers in the eyes, not to greet them or ask about their well being. But until the girl collapsed, Lala had managed to escape an emergency.

Lala worked for Global Crossing Airlines, the dominant player in the loose network of deportation contractors known as ICE Air. GlobalX, as the charter company is also called, is lately in the news.

Two weeks ago, it helped the Trump administration fly hundreds of Venezuelans to El Salvador despite a federal court order blocking the deportations, triggering a showdown that experts fear could become a full blown constitutional crisis.

In interviews with ProPublica, Lala and six other current and former GlobalX flight attendants provided a window into a part of the deportation process that is rarely seen and little understood.


For migrants who have spent months or years trying to reach this country and live here, it is the last act, the final bit of America they may experience.

All but one of the flight attendants requested anonymity or asked that only a nickname be used, fearing retribution or black marks as they looked for new jobs in an insular industry.
