Moment Jet Smashes Onto Florida Highway Killing Two Pilots
Horrifying Footage Shows Moment Private Jet Smashes Onto Florida Highway
Wipes Out Traffic - Killing Two Pilots But Saving Three on Board MailOnline 15 FEB 2024 Pilot Edward Daniel Murphy, 50 Crew member Sydney Ann Bosmans, 23, along with passengers Aaron Baker, 35, and Audra Green, 23, narrowly escaped from the wreckage The video shows the private jet piloted by 50-year-old Edward Daniel Murphy and second in command Ian Frederick Hofmann, 65, that crashed when its engines failed. The two pilots died on impact, but thanks to their ability to guide the Bombardier Challenger 60 on to the crowded highway, three others onboard survived. Video shows the plane striking a car as it came down, before bursting into flames as it collided with a highway median. Further footage showed the thee survivors fleeing, as flames whipped around them. A massive plume of smoke followed, after which feds were called to the scene to examine the wreck. They went on to reveal the jet had been mere minutes away from safety - in this case the runway at Naples Airport just a few miles away. The driver, identified by DailyMail.com as Miami trucker Alfonso Del Nodal, was one of several drivers to capture the improvised landing on the makeshift landing strip. 'Last moment,' he wrote in a caption to one of two clips showing the crash posted to his Facebook, two days after the crash occurred. Other footage - including video captured by passing motorist Kyle Cavaliere -showed the massive plumes of smoke rising from the wreckage moments after the plane went down. 'It landed on a car too,' Cavaliere exclaims as he approaches the scene, steering his car closer to the huge flames that can be seen as debris lays strewn across the road. The aircraft reportedly had been traveling from Columbus, Ohio, to the airport in Naples, with feds since identifying all of those who had been onboard. Crew member Sydney Ann Bosmans, 23, along with passengers Aaron Baker, 35, and Audra Green, 23, narrowly escaped with their lives, and were filmed fleeing the fiery inferno after it crashed on Friday. Officials on the ground further clarified that Murphy, a veteran pilot, was from Oakland Park, Florida, and that Hofmann hailed from Pompano Beach, Florida. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is handling the investigation. |
