Prague Mass Shooter Who Killed Himself, Was Suspected Serial Killer
Student Shoots 14 People Dead at University in Prague
Police Chief Says Premeditated Violent Attack at Charles University Appears to Have Been Inspired by US Massacres Day of Mourning Declared After 14 Killed in Prague MASS Shooting The Guardian 22 DEC 2023 Students hiding on a ledge to escape the shooter after others were told to barricade themselves in classrooms. A student at Pragues’ Charles University shot and killed 14 people and injured 25 others, 10 of them seriously, before being found dead, in what is believed to be the worst mass shooting in the Czech Republics’ modern history. The city’s police chief, Martin Vondrášek, told a press briefing on Thursday evening that the death toll may rise further, adding that the shooting had been “a premeditated violent attack”, apparently inspired by similar massacres abroad. The Czech interior minister, Vít Rakušan, said there was no indication the killings, which took place at the university’s faculty of arts building, had “any connection with international terrorism”. The father of the shooter had been found dead earlier on Thursday, police said. Prague’s mayor, Bohuslav Svoboda, told Czech TV: “We always thought this was a thing that did not concern us. Now it turns out that, unfortunately, our world is also changing, and the problem of the individual shooter is emerging here as well.” Police said shortly after 3pm local time that they were responding to a shooting at Jan Palach Square, near tourist sites such as the 14th-century Charles Bridge in central Prague. Less than an hour later, they said on X that the shooter had been “eliminated” and the entire building was being evacuated. |

Daily Mail 23 DEC 2023 Lone gunman David Kozak went on a rampage at Charles University in Prague, in the Czech Republic, in which he massacred 14 people and left 25 with serious injuries, many of them fighting for their lives in hospital today Footage of the Prague shooter has emerged of him standing on the balcony of the Charles University aiming his powerful ZEV-30 rifle at people below, picking his victims off one by one. David Kozak, wearing all black, can be seen walking calmly along the balcony and taking aim at the terrified students fleeing the university and tourists who had been gathered in the popular square below. On the ground, a heroic man can be heard screaming 'shoot me you f***er' in a desperate and valiant bid to distract the shooter and save the lives of others, reports newspaper Blesk. But the 24-year-old ignores his pleas and continues to fire in quick succession at his victims below as the man frantically tells police where exactly Kozak is located on the balcony through a walkie-talkie, urging them to 'take a shot' at the shooter.
