Police have arrested two men and a woman on suspicion of murder after a newborn baby was found dead outside a property in Ipswich.

Suffolk Police said officers and paramedics were called to Norwich Road in the east England town at 12.35pm on Saturday after receiving reports of the tragic find.

The baby was declared dead at the scene; the death is being treated as unexplained and remains under investigation.

Two men and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident and remain in police custody for questioning.

A cordon has been established at the entrance to Wilbury House on Norwich Road as enquiries are carried out.

Local media reported that there was a large police presence outside the home throughout Saturday. A dog unit attended the scene, according to the Ipswich Star.

Police have urged locals to avoid commenting on the case on social media.

Detective Chief Superintendent Jane Topping said: 'This is a very sad and distressing incident and, at this time, our investigation into the circumstances surrounding the baby's death is in its early stages.

'I would urge people not to speculate on social media as to the circumstances of this tragic event.'
