Morgue workers were terrified when a woman seemed to return from the dead as she started moving around inside the body bag. The woman was rushed to the emergency room..Hospital workers got to work on the woman once believed dead

The unnamed patient had shown signs of severe malnutrition and when she was hooked up to monitors showed no signs of respiratory or brain activity, and was declared dead.

However after five hours inside a body bag in the San Juan de Dios General Hospital, Guatemala, she suddenly started moving.

Shocked morgue workers rushed to alert doctors and she was readmitted to the emergency room. However, despite resuscitation efforts, the patient did not show any vital signs and she was declared dead for a second and final time.

The hospital sent their support to her family for the “difficult time they are facing”. It is unclear if the incident is being investigated by the authorities.

A hospital spokesperson said the young woman had first arrived in a “precarious condition” and shown signs of “severe malnutrition” and had a medical history of seizures and cerebral palsy. The spokesman added: “After 30 minutes of medical efforts, she was declared deceased and her body was transferred to the morgue as part of established protocol.”

In the wake of the incident, one local said: “What a horror the Guatemalan health system is.”

Another defended the country’s health system, adding: “My life was saved by doctors at the San Juan de Dios Hospital. I received excellent care in their ICU.”

Earlier this year, the Mirror reported on several claims made by people who said they had come back from being dead. The remarks were made to someone who asked what they had seen. One said they felt “Overwhelming peace and happiness.”

They added: “A bright airy and floating feeling. I live a very stressful life. Imagine finding out the person you have had a crush on reveals they have the same feelings for you and then you win the lotto later that day - that was the feeling I had. I never feared death afterward and am relieved when I hear of people dying after suffering from an illness."

Another user added: "My dad's heart stopped when he had a heart attack and he had to be brought back to life. He kept the paper copy of the heart monitor which shows he flatlined. He said he felt an overwhelming sensation of peace, like nothing he had felt before."

A third user said: "I almost drowned, and I felt the same thing. Immense peace for some seconds. This is the feeling." However, others say a deceased family member greeted them as they passed away, giving them the comfort they needed in their last breaths.
