RCA Records denies Elvis Presley will change his style when he leaves the army. "It just ain't true," one spokesman remarks. (1959)

The Rolling Stones show up late for the BBC radio shows, "Top Gear" and "Saturday Club" and are banned by the BBC. (1964)

Beatles records released this week include the album "The Beatles Story" on Capitol and the single "I Feel Fine" backed with "She's a Woman." (1964)

Elvis Presley's 22nd film, "Spinout," premieres in Los Angeles. The movie is another box-office success and critical disaster for Elvis. (1966)

Rolling Stone quotes San Francisco's veteran disco jockey Tom Donahue: "Top Forty radio," as we know it today and have known it for the last ten years, is dead, and its rotting corpse is stinking up the airwaves." (1967)

It's the end of an era: Rolling Stone reports San Francisco's Family Dog has lost its license to operate out of the Avalon Ballroom, site of the marathon dance concerts featuring the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Moby Grape, Quicksilver Messenger Service and other psychedelic groups. (1968)

The Chi-Lites' first R&B Number One, "Have You Seen Her," enters the R&B chart, The song goes to #3 on the Top 100 in December. (1971)

Gary Wright quits the group Spooky Tooth to go solo. Next year, he'll have two straight hits, "Dream Weaver" and "Love is Alive." (1974)

Police arrest Jerry Lee Lewis outside the gates of Graceland after he shows up for the second time that night and makes a scene, shouting, waving a pistol and demanding to see Elvis Presley. After security guards call police, Lewis is found at his car with a .38 Derringer in hand; authorities charge him on counts of public intoxication and possesion of a weapon. (1976)

Marianne Faithful, currently embarking on her second solo singing career, is picked-up at Oslo Airport in Norway for possession of marijuana. (1979)
