Mick Jagger Hits Governor DeSantis With Vicious Putdown At Rolling Stones Concert
Crowd ERUPTS as MICK JAGGER CALLS OUT TRUMP At Concert MSNRAW 7 JUN 2024 ![]() Rock legend Sir Mick Jagger took a sharp swipe Monday night at a high profile attendee of his Florida concert — Gov. Ron DeSantis, Florida Today reports. “We have some great local celebrities that have come tonight,” the Rolling Stones frontman said onstage at the Camping World Stadium. “Ron DeSantis is up there in the suite. He’s having a date night with Mickey Mouse. I’m so glad they finally made up.” Jagger was calling out DeSantis' multi-year-long war with the Walt Disney corporation, a massive employer in the state due to its theme park presence, after the company put out a statement critical of DeSantis' signature legislation effectively barring any discussion of LGBTQ identity in public schools. DeSantis publicly attacked the company, took over the special taxing district it uses to govern the Walt Disney World complex, and even threatened to build toll roads and prisons near the parks. Disney, for its part, responded with a lawsuit accusing DeSantis of targeting the company based on political speech. Ultimately, the conflict was resolved with a legal settlement. In recent months, and in particular when he was on the campaign trail, DeSantis tried to downplay the extent to which he waged a culture war against Disney, with Trump allies directly attacking him over it during the governor's ill-fated campaign for president. Jagger, 80, has also taken shots at Trump himself during his more recent performances with the surviving members of his band. Last month, while Trump was holding a rally in the South Bronx, Jagger was performing at the MetLife Stadium across the Hudson River in New Jersey. Jagger said, riffing on the adult film star whose hush payments from Trump were the focus of his criminal conviction in New York, “I was a bit worried about the weather tonight. I thought we were going to get a Stormy Daniels but we’re all right." AND.. Mick Jagger Takes a Jab at Louisiana Governor You Can't Always Get What You Want |
