Apocalyptic Supercell Cloud Closes in on American Town as Storm Approaches

A huge storm has ripped through southern America bringing with it a huge 'supercell' cloud.

Students were sent home from schools in parts of Alabama and Georgia, and a confirmed tornado hit Jacksonville State University damaging several buildings.

Jake Eshpeter, a meteorology student at Mississippi State University, recorded the supercell near Vinemont and uploaded the impressive clip to Twitter.

In the footage the imposing cloud formation hovered over the land like an deadly arch, as the storms began to rolling in behind it.

The storms brought with them hailstones, as large as two inches in diameter, and damaged homes and cars across the region.

Supercells are sometimes referred to as rotating thunderstorms and are responsible for the most destructive hurricanes in America.

Ahead of the storm first alert warnings were sent out telling the public to bring pets inside and review their safety plans at home.

"Make sure you have waters, your radio, and a flashlight already ready to go in your safe spot.

"Go ahead and bring pets inside tomorrow morning so you can easily locate them and bring them into your shelter."

A freshwater river turned blood red in Israel has been described as like something out of the Bible.

The eerie footage shows the water in the Nahal Alexander river flowing in a murky red colour, as animal blood seeps into it.

A second clip shows a section of the river bright red with local photographer Amberto said: “It looks like the plague of blood in Egypt.”

The first plague of Egypt features in the book of Exodus and involved the River Nile having its water turned into blood.

The bizarre sight was caused by slaughterhouses in the regions of Tulkarem and Schechem dumping blood and other waste into the Schechem Stream.
