Florida Mom Burned Daughter for Resisting Arranged Marriage, Police Say

A Florida mom is facing three counts of child abuse after police say she burned her daughter with a hot knife for resisting an arranged marriage.

Sahar Thabit, a 35-year-old devout Muslim, put a knife on a hot stove and used it to burn her 17-year-old daughter several times in January, according to Hollywood police.

Police began investigating the alleged incidents after one of the daughter’s classmates said she saw burn marks on the girl's arms, CBS 4 reports.

The girl was expected to marry a cousin in the family, but she was communicating with another boy over the Internet.

Ali Thabit, the girl’s grandfather, claims the burnings were accidental since the house they live in has an oven, 7 News reports.

Sahar Thabit was arrested Friday and released Saturday after posting bond, but she has been ordered to avoid contact with her daughter, who is staying with family friends.

Terrible and sadly this is going on around the world and has been for years. Some of these girls are even murdered by their families for resisting, if they are not murdered in the countries they live in, they are sent back to their countries of origin, where other relatives kill them and hide their remains

Thankfully the UK have special task forces in every region, to investigate such murders, and also investigate the "disappearance" of some girls. They also have agencies and special homes for the girls to live in, if they manage to escape their cruel families

Many schools in the UK now have lectures to advise these girls, that there is help "out there", if they need it.

It is a damn disgrace that these fanatical families move to our civilised countries to reap the benefits, yet many refuse to learn the language and live by the civilised way of life offered.
