Passenger Storms ****pit And Tries to Hijack Plane as He Panics About Kidnap Threats
The Volaris Airlines plane was travelling from Leon in Mexico to Tijuana when the man allegedly attacked a flight attendant and tried to storm the ****pit REUTERS 11 DEC 2024 ![]() ![]() Authorities report a harrowing incident where a passenger allegedly attempted to hijack a flight in Mexico, attempting to reroute the plane to the US from its intended route to Tijuana. The 31-year-old Mexican man, identified as Mario N, reportedly assaulted a flight attendant before trying to breach the ****pit of the Volaris Airlines aircraft. Following his disruptive outburst, the plane was forced to divert to Guadalajara, where he was apprehended by the Mexican National Guard. While no clear motive for the attempted hijack has been disclosed, the countrys Department of Security suggested that the man may have been acting under duress, facing death threats should he arrive in Tijuana. The accused, who was travelling with his wife and two children, was held by the crew until authorities took over upon landing. Crew members shared with officials that the man had also mentioned a family member being kidnapped, reports the Mirror US. In response to the ordeal, the airline issued a statement emphasizing the well-being of all involved: "All passengers, crew and aircraft are safe," adding, "Volaris regrets the inconvenience this situation has caused.
