Oh Crap! TRUMP AGAIN Threatens to Sacrifice NATO to Russia -Putting Soldiers at Risk

Shocking Moment UNHINGED TRUMP Tells Cheering Crowd He Would Encourage Russia to ATTACK Fellow NATO Members For Failing to 'Pay Their Dues'

TRUMP Said: 'I Would Encourage Them to Do Whatever The Hell They Want'

MailOnline 11 FEB 2024

Trump has in the past praised Russian President Vladimir Putin, and even sided with him over US intelligence agencies when Putin denied meddling in the 2016 election

Ex-president repeatedly claims he got NATO allies to increase common funding..But that is NOT how NATO funding works and his claim is thoroughly debunked

The MAD ex-president made the alarming promise to rile up a cheering crowd, that spilled on to the streets outside his rally in Conway, South Carolina, on Saturday.

'No, I would not protect you, in fact I would encourage them (Russia) to do whatever the hell they want,' he said, to huge applause.

TRUMP claimed twice during his speech repeated his frequent claim that while president he strong-armed European allies into paying more for defense.

Later he added: 'The president of a big country stood up and said "if we don't pay, and we're attacked by Russia, will you protect us?" I said you didn't pay, you're delinquent? He said, "yes, let's say that happened".

'No, I would not protect you, in fact I would encourage them (Russia) to do whatever the hell they want, you gotta pay! You gotta pay your bills.'

The White House called Trump's words 'appalling and unhinged' and argued they 'promoted dangerous chaos'.

'President Biden has restored our alliances that Trump destroyed, and made us stronger in the world because he knows every commander in chief’s first responsibility is to keep the American people safe and hold true to the values that unite us,' it said.

'Encouraging invasions of our closest allies by murderous regimes is appalling and unhinged – and it endangers American national security, global stability, and our economy at home.

'Rather than calling for wars and promoting deranged chaos, President Biden will continue to bolster American leadership and stand up for our national security interests – not against them.'

Trump often claimed he single-handedly convinced NATO members to contribute more, but there is no account of this exchange ever taking place.

But NATO funding also doesn't work how Trump frequently claims it does, and his boasting doesn't mesh with reality. NO NATO member is failing to pay its share of the alliance's $3 billion common budget, which is based on GDP and the US pays 16 per cent of.

'NATO was busted until I came along. I said, "everybody's going to pay". They said, "well, if we don't pay are you still going to protect us?" I said, "absolutely not". They couldn't believe the answer,' he said.

Separate to that, NATO members in 2014 - before Trump even entered the presidential race - pledged to boost their defense spending.

A target of two per cent of GDP by 2024 was set, in response to Russia annexing Crimea from Ukraine, and defense spending by the 29 NATO countries has steadily increased.

This plan was created well before Trump had any influence on NATO countries, but he took credit for it dozens of time over the past eight years.

Trump during a New Hampshire town hall last month also made the same wildly incorrect claim, and argued NATO was 'taking advantage' of the US.

'The European countries took advantage of… I want to use the word starting with an S, but I don't want to do it because I see some young, very good-looking children in the audience, and I assume they're watching on television,' he said.

'But they took advantage of us on trade, and then they took advantage of us on our military protection.

'Of the 28 countries at the time, only eight countries were paid up. We were paying the difference. NOT TRUE...

And I went to them. I said, "if you don't pay, we're not going to protect you". And they said, "do you mean that?" I said, "I mean that".

And the next day, billions of dollars poured into NATO.' MORE LIES...

Trump threatened to withdraw from NATO several times while he was president, calling it 'obsolete' and a drain on American resources.

This is despite the about $500 million the US pays in direct funding being dwarfed by the $842 billion defense budget.

Congress got so concerned Trump could unilaterally withdraw form NATO if he won a second term that it passed a law in December requiring the president to get a two-third majority of the Senate to do so.

Trump has also praised Russian President Vladimir Putin, and even sided with him over US intelligence agencies when Putin denied meddling in the 2016 election.

Trump's claim he would 'encourage' Russia to attack NATO allies had eerie parallels to when he called on Russian hackers to find emails from Hillary Clinton, his Democratic opponent in the US presidential election.

'Russia, if you're listening. I hope you're able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing,' he said in July 2016 during the election campaign.

Hours later, the Main Intelligence Directorate in Moscow appeared to heed the call — targeting Clinton’s personal office and hitting more than 70 other Clinton campaign accounts.

That was according to a grand jury indictment charging 12 Russian military intelligence officers with hacking into the Clinton campaign and the Democratic Party as part of a sweeping conspiracy by the Kremlin to meddle in the election.

Putin denied he had any interest in attacking NATO countries, like Poland and the Baltic states, in his controversial interview with Tucker Carlson.

'Only in one case, if Poland attacks Russia. We have no interest in Poland, Latvia or anywhere else. Why would we do that? We simply don't have any interest. It is absolutely out of the question,' he said.

MORE; TRUMPS MAGAs' Gift to Putin...

When Donald Trump became president in 2017, Russians popped champagne corks across Moscow, secretly and publicly. Trump’s victory, they believed, would be beneficial for the Kremlin.

Today, the bubbly must be flowing again. Russian President Vladimir Putin didn’t even have to wait until the 2024 election and Trump’s possible return to the White House to have cause for celebration.

Trump is already proving fantastically useful for Putin.

The former president and his MAGA loyalists are wrapping up an invaluable gift for the Russian leader just in time for the second anniversary of Putin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

With every passing day it looks like they’re going to force the United States to break its word and all but abandon Ukraine – along with other war-torn regions and Indo-Pacific defense.

For a moment, it looked like the US Congress would behave responsibly. It was odd that urgently needed aid for Ukraine was included in a border security bill. But the bill, painstakingly negotiated and containing almost everything Republicans had demanded to deal with a crisis at the border, was suddenly torpedoed by Trump’s Republican allies.

Never mind that MAGA activists had spent years suggesting nothing mattered more than controlling the border. Never mind that the legislation imposes the toughest restrictions in decades.

Never mind that it includes the support that Ukraine needs to fight a war that is of vital importance to the United States and its allies, along with funding for Israel’s war against Hamas, humanitarian aid for Gaza, and funding for operations in the Red Sea, where the Iran-backed Houthis are launching missiles at ships and near Taiwan, the self-ruled island claimed by China.

No, the bill was declared dead by Trump’s allies because the former president decided it was bad for him.

Trump has made it clear that he wants chaos at the border, so he can campaign on the issue, blaming Biden. Solving it, he said, would be a “gift” to Democrats.

For Trump, the worse things are in the United States, the better his chances of capitalizing on discontent and portraying Biden’s administration as a failure. That’s why he said he hopes a recession, an economic “crash,” happens before the end of the year.

It’s an astonishingly cynical tactic for a man trying to convince voters to put him in charge. It may or may not work at the polls, but it’s already turning policy-making into a deliberately counterproductive mess. Incredibly, he expects his supporters in Congress to vote against bills that they believe would benefit their country. It’s the reverse of patriotism.

Trump’s congressional toadies quickly fell into line even before they saw the border bill. And after he threatened anyone who supported it with the “end of their career,” many Republicans who might have wanted to support it quietly peeled away.

Barring a miracle, the legislation is doomed and with it, very likely, the prospects for substantial US aid for Ukraine.

Imagine the joy in Moscow!

TRUMP Does IT Again - Threatens to Sacrifice Nato Allies to Russia

The ex-president said that ‘if they’re not going to pay, we’re not going to protect’ at rally in South Carolina

The Guardian 16 FEB 2024

Donald Trump has doubled down on his threat to undermine Nato, repeating his threat not to protect countries he believes do not pay enough to maintain the alliance and claiming such nations “laugh at the stupidity” of the US.

Putin Says He PREFERS Biden and Mocks TRUMP in Tucker Carlson Interview

Trump said: “I’ve been saying, ‘Look, if they’re not going to pay, we’re not going to protect, OK?’ And [Joe] Biden who said, ‘Oh, this is so bad. This is so terrible that he would say that.’ No … nobody’s paying their bills.

The next day, the former president and probable Republican nominee spoke to reporters outside court in New York City, where he attended a hearing in his criminal trial on charges regarding hush-money payments to an adult film star.

“Nato countries have to pay up,” Trump said. “They have to pay their bills. The United States is in for $200bn and they’re in for $25bn. Their economy, when you … add up the countries that make up Nato, it’s about the same size as our economy. So we’re in for $200bn, they’re in for $25bn and it’s much more important for them because we have an ocean in between [us and Russia].” DEBUNKED

The source of Trumps’ figures was not immediately clear. Members of Nato have pledged to pay at least 2% of GDP on defence each year. Nato estimates say Poland spends most, at 3.9%, with the US second on 3.5%.

On Thursday, Trump continued: “So the Nato countries have to pay up. They’re not paying up, they’re not paying what they should and they laugh at the stupidity of the United States of America, where we have a guy that gives $60bn every time somebody comes and asks for it. We shouldn’t be doing that. They’re laughing at us.

Last week, Trump caused outrage and alarm when he said he would encourage Russia to attack Nato members he deemed financially delinquent.
