Movies Ben Wallace QUITS as UK's Outstanding Defence Secretary & MP

WAR is Coming to UK Within Next 7 Yrs Says Ben Wallace in Ominous WARNING

The Defence Secretary is lobbying for increased defence spending saying that the world is "more dangerous, more unstable and more insecure" since Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine

Ukraine war could rage for another 12 months, says Defence Secretary

Wallace: 97% of Russian Army is in Ukraine
BBC 24 FEB 2023

The UK will be embroiled in a "hot or cold" war within seven years, Defence Secretary Ben Wallace has warned.

The cabinet member sounded an ominous warning, stating: "War is coming."

Mr Wallace said the world is "definitely more dangerous, more unstable and more insecure” as a result of Vladimir Putin's illegal war as he piled pressure on Rishi Sunak over defence spending.

A row is brewing within Tory ranks ahead of Jeremy Hunt's Budget on March 15 as he demands a larger slice of the pie.

The defence secretary said the government needs to recognise and prepare for impending danger.

Mr Wallace made the remarks ahead of the first anniversary of Putin's invasion

Mr Wallace told The Sun: “Conflict is coming by the end of this decade, whether it is a cold war or hot, war is coming.

“We just have to recognise that in order to deter you just have to be ready, you have to be equipped and you have to stand with your friends and your allies.”

He made the remark ahead of the first anniversary of the war in Ukraine on Friday.

Mr Wallace stated: “The world is more dangerous, more anxious and more insecure… we need a greater proportion of the public spend on defence."

He told LBC this morning that he expects the war will still be going on this time next year, said said: "I think Russia has shown a complete disregard, not only for the lives of the people of Ukraine, but for its own soldiers.

Mr Wallace warned that bloodthirsty Vladimir Putin will not stop

"We are sitting here 12 months in and 188,000, actually more now, Russian soldiers are dead or injured as a result of this catastrophic miscalculation and aggression by President Putin.

"When someone has crossed the line and thinks it is OK to do that to your own people, running effectively a meat grinder for an army, I think he is not going to stop."

General Sir Richard Barrons, former commander of Joint Forces Command, called in the Sunday Express for Jeremy Hunt to approve an annual boost of £3 billion and stop "deliberately keeping defence broken".

Earlier this week Admiral Lord West, former First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff, told the Daily Mail: "It’s extraordinary that with a war raging in Europe, we’re the only country almost that hasn’t done quite a massive increase in defence spending."

He continued: "If Putin is sitting there when this defence review comes round, and again Britain doesn’t increase defence spending, he’s going to say 'Ah, they’re not serious, are they? I don’t need to pay much attention to them'."

During a debate last month in the Commons, Mr Wallace said he was "happy to say that we have been hollowed out and underfunded".

Only days later, he told a joint UK-Australia press conference in Portsmouth that a "growing proportion" of Government spending would need to go towards keeping the country safe, in a message that was read as being directed at Chancellor Jeremy Hunt ahead of the Budget.

Movies SPITE; Biden Blocked Wallace For NATO Chief On F-16 Ukraine Training W.O. US Consent

Britains’ Fury With US as Joe Biden ‘Blocks’ Ben Wallace For Nato chief

Biden Has Done Britain a 'Bad Turn' - Did Anti-British Joe Biden Rreally Block Ben Wallaces' NATO bid?

BBC NEWS 25 JUNE 2023

Joe Biden has done Britain a “bad turn” by blocking Ben Wallace’s run for Nato chief, Government sources have said.

The Defence Secretary had been the favourite with many member states to succeed Jens Stoltenberg, the current secretary-general, later this year.

The Defence Secretary made a strong pitch to become the next Secretary General in the wake of his pivotal role in the Ukraine response. The UK is one of the few countries that meets the military spending targets.

But he has now acknowledged the appointment is 'not going to happen' despite Rishi Sunak lobbying the US President on a trip to Washington this month.

Mr Biden is said to be keen for current chief Jens Stoltenberg to extend his term, although there are also claims he 'didn't want to support the UK'.

The president frequently boasts about his Irish heritage and has faced accusations of being 'anti-British'. On a recent visit to the island of Ireland, he spent a few hours in Northern Ireland before touring the Republic for days and snubbed displaying a Union Jack on his 'Beast' limo.

He also made a 'joke' about beating the 'Black and Tans' - an auxiliary police force deployed by Britain a century ago.

Ben Wallace has admitted his hopes of getting NATO's top job are over

Mr Wallace admitted on Wednesday that his ambition to take over the reins, which he had repeatedly expressed in public, is now “not going to happen”, after resistance from Joe Biden and France.

Biden Opposes Wallaces' Appointment as NATO Secretary General Because of F-16 Training For Ukraine

Ben Wallace Considered One of The Priority Candidates For The Post of NATO Secretary General

Joe Bidens' UK NATO Snub Branded a Murky Underhand Affair -Once Again the US Tries to Control European Affairs

BBC NEWS 6 JULY 2023

US President Joe Biden has blocked the candidacy of UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace for the post of NATO Secretary General because the UK, without Washingtons' CONSENT?, began to promote the idea of training Ukrainian pilots on F-16

The reason for Biden's position was supposedly that the UK began to actively promote the idea of training Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets and forming a coalition with other allies on this issue without first obtaining US consent.

The media outlets have also found out that Biden is most favourably disposed to the candidacy of the current President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, even though she didn't do a good job as head of the German defence ministry

Jacob Rees-Mogg asks Robert Weiner if Joe Biden wants a special relationship with the UK after the President backed Ursula von der Leyen to be the next NATO secretary general ahead of Defence Secretary Ben Wallace

On Tuesday, the European allies officially extended Jens Stoltenberg's mandate as NATO Secretary General for another year as they failed to agree on a candidate for his successor. Stoltenberg himself had hoped Ben Wallace would replace him so he could leave the post of secretary general, which he has held since the autumn of 2014.

Movies Re: Ben Wallace QUITS as UK's Outstanding Defence Secretary & MP

Ben Wallace to QUIT as Defence Secretary and MP at Next Cabinet Reshuffle

Mr Wallace Played a High-Profile Role in UK's Response to The Ukraine War

BBC NEWS 16 JULY 2023

Ben Wallace says he will step down as defence secretary at the next Cabinet reshuffle after four years in the job.

He told the Sunday Times he would not stand at the next general election, but ruled out leaving "prematurely" and triggering a by-election.

Mr Wallace has served as defence secretary under three prime ministers and has played a high-profile role in the UK's response to the Ukraine war.

Sources told the BBC they expect the next reshuffle in September.

Rishi Sunak is reportedly planning to shake up his top team, but no date has been confirmed.

Mr Wallace said he was quitting frontline politics due to the toll it had taken on his family, and allies of his have said the decision was not a reflection on Mr Sunak's leadership.

His Wyre and Preston North constituency is set to disappear at the next election under upcoming boundary changes and he told the newspaper he would not seek a new one.

The 53-year-old's confirmation of his plans to the Sunday Times comes after days of speculation that he was considering leaving government.

He has always been popular with Tory party members and his decision is likely to be seen as quite a blow for the party by some Conservatives.

It also leaves a big vacancy in government, which Rishi Sunak will have to fill.

The comments were made at a fringe event at the Nato summit in Vilnius, after Ukraine's president Volodymyr Zelensky said it was "absurd" that Nato would not give a timetable for his country securing membership of the bloc once the war with Russia is over.

On Twitter on Saturday evening, writing in Ukrainian, Mr Wallace said his comments had been "somewhat misrepresented", and he was making the point that in some parliaments there "is not such strong support as in Great Britain".

He said his comments had not been about governments but "more about citizens and members of parliaments".

He noted the strong support for Ukraine amongst the British public, and added he would "continue to support Ukraine on its path for as long as it takes".

The BBC understands Mr Wallace informed the prime minister on 16 June of his decision to stand down from the Cabinet.

Mr Wallace, a former soldier, told the Sunday Times: "I went into politics in the Scottish parliament in 1999. That's 24 years. I've spent well over seven years with three phones by my bed."

He suggested in the interview that he would continue to call for higher defence spending, something he has campaigned for throughout his time in the role.

It comes weeks after Mr Wallace said he was no longer in the running to be the next secretary general of Nato, a role he was widely reported to be seeking and was favourite between Nato members to succeed Stoltenberg before US's spiteful and controlling intervention

The announcement that Jens Stoltenberg would be continuing in the job effectively ended his hopes of becoming the next head of the military bloc.

Mr Wallace has played a vocal role in supporting Ukraine, including overseeing the transfer of weapons and vehicles to its army.

His position as defence secretary when Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine saw his profile increase at home and abroad.

Mr Wallace has served longer in the role than any Conservative defence secretary before him, but told the Sunday Times he was conscious of the impact the job has had on his family.

Mr Wallace told the newspaper: "While I am proud to have worked with so many amazing people and helped contribute to protecting this great country, the cost of putting that ahead of my family is something I am very sad about."

Before entering politics as a member of the Scottish Parliament in 1999, Mr Wallace served in the Army as an Officer in the Scots Guards.

He was first elected to the Commons in 2005, and previously served as a minister in the Northern Ireland department and in the Home Office.

What is next for him is unclear.
