Girl 4, Dies After Being Accidentally Locked in 50C School Minibus For 7 Hours
Flora Inez has been named as the four-year-old girl who died after a bus driver left her inside a school minibus in the scorching heat, with police now investigating the case BBC News 16 JUN 2022 Flora Inez has been named as the four-year-old girl who died in a minibus in Hungary A four-year-old girl has tragically died after she was forgotten on the school minibus for seven hours on a scorching day. The child was inadvertently locked on the bus in the Hungarian village of Tomajmonostora from 8.30am until 3pm on Tuesday. She had been picked up from her parents to be taken to nursery school, but the driver allegedly left her on the bus. No one heard her calls for help as temperatures rose to 50C inside the vehicle. The young girl, named in reports as Flora Inez, was unconscious but still alive when she was eventually found. The Hungarian National Ambulance Service said: "Medics transported a four-year-old girl in a life-threatening condition to the hospital by helicopter." Suffering from heatstroke, Flora, was rushed into intensive care and fought for her life for three days before sadly passing away. The child was locked inside this minibus for seven hours Paediatrician Dr. Orsolya Ács told the Hungarian news site Bors: "More than likely, her body became so hot that she dried up because she sweated and exhaled all the water from her body. "She was unable to correct the elevated body temperature, although the body always tries to cool itself in the beginning of similar cases." Dr Ács, who did not treat the girl, told Bors that she was sure the hospital would have tried to replace Flora's fluids and salts. The driver of the vehicle is reportedly receiving psychological treatment The bus driver, who has been named only as Istvan T., 56, due to strict local privacy laws, is now reportedly receiving psychological treatment at a facility in Szolnok after suffering a nervous breakdown. The driver’s son previously told Bors: “My father was very worn out by what happened. "I was specifically asked not to tell anyone until the investigations were closed, but I don’t have enough information about the terrible case anyway." The police have reportedly opened a criminal case and the municipality, which employs the bus driver, has launched an internal investigation. . |
