Default re: UPDATE = VERDICT IN on Toddler Murder -Casey Anthony-PHOTOS

This would have been the biggest scandal after the OJ Simpsons trial if she had been convicted, that would have given strong grounds for an appeal. The police and prosecuting team failed to convict her because of lack of evidence.

There was NO evidence connecting her to the death of her child. In fact they couldnt establish what the cause of death was, it could have been accidental or murder. All the evidence presented was circumstantial, that provides the equation of enough reasonable doubt not to convict her.

The jury reached the correct decision within the law in the US.

However the 4 charges against her, that she was found guilty of, has convicted her and she has been given a sentence of four years and fines. But after time served she will go free

Casey Anthony to go Free Next Week

ORLANDO -- A judge in Orlando sentenced Casey Anthony to four years Thursday for lying to authorities, but court authorities said she will be freed Wednesday.

A jury acquitted Anthony, 25, of all murder-related charges Tuesday but convicted her on four counts of lying to authorities investigating the death of her daughter, Caylee, in 2008.

Judge Belvin Perry sentenced Anthony to four years in jail to be served consecutively – minus time served. She has been held for almost three years. He also fined her $1,000 on each count.

Perry said the jury "spoke loud and clear" in its findings on the murder charges but also "spoke loud and clear" regarding the charges of lying.

Anthony was convicted of lying about working at the Universal Studios theme park, about leaving her daughter with a non-existent nanny named Zanny, about leaving the girl with friends and about receiving a phone call from her.

Perry rejected the defense team's argument that Anthony's lies occurred on the same day and should be considered "one continuous lie," thus one criminal count.

"As a result of those four separate and distinct lies, law enforcement expended a great deal of time and energy and manpower looking for young Caylee Marie Anthony," Perry said.

Despite widespread public outrage on TV and online about Casey Anthony's acquittal, just two in 10 Americans say they believe she definitely murdered her daughter, according to a USA TODAY/Gallup poll.

The poll of 1,010 adults found another 44 percent thought Anthony probably murdered two-year-old Caylee. The poll has a margin of error of 4 points.

The poll found 36 percent of Americans were disappointed by the verdict and another 18 percent were angry.

The poll showed respondents equally divided on how closely they followed the trial. Half followed the trial somewhat or very closely; the other half did not follow the trial closely or at all.

Anthony was accused of killing Caylee in June 2008 by covering her mouth with duct tape. Caylee's body was found six months later in woods near the Anthony home. The prosecution team said Casey Anthony dumped Caylee's body there and resumed her life of partying and shopping.

Defense attorney Jose Baez, in his opening statement, told the jury that Caylee accidentally drowned and that Casey's father, George, helped Casey cover up the death to make it look like a homicide. No evidence to back up the claim was ever presented. Casey Anthony never testified, and George Anthony denied any involvement in Caylee's death or the disposal of her body.

Wednesday, the first juror spoke out about the case. In an interview with ABC News, Jennifer Ford said she and the other jurors cried and were "sick to our stomachs" after voting to acquit Anthony of charges that she killed her child.

"I did not say she was innocent," said Ford, previously identified only as Juror No. 3. "I just said there was not enough evidence. If you cannot prove what the crime was, you cannot determine what the punishment should be."

The not-guilty verdict shocked many observers, but it was also a difficult moment for the panel, Ford said. No juror talked to reporters in the hours after the verdict.

"Everyone wonders why we didn't speak to the media right away," Ford said. "It was because we were sick to our stomach to get that verdict. We were crying, and not just the women. It was emotional, and we weren't ready. We wanted to do it with integrity and not contribute to the sensationalism of the trial."

When Anthony is released, she will face challenges.

"I suspect she's not going to have a very pleasant life," said Karin Moore, a law professor at Florida A&M University who has watched the case. "This will follow her wherever she goes."

She will be hounded for interviews. She has to worry that she is a target for those who hate her.

"Her life could be in danger," Moore said. "A lot of people wanted to push the needle in themselves, from reading some of the comments made by people online."

Public opinion aside, Anthony has even the basics to worry about, said Mike Paul, a crisis management consultant. Where will she live? Can she find work?

It's not clear that Anthony could return to the house the single mother once shared with her daughter and parents. During the trial, Anthony's lawyer accused her father of sexually abusing her. George Anthony took the stand to deny the allegations.

George and Cindy Anthony left court quickly after the verdict without saying anything to their daughter. Their attorney, Mark Lippman, said the parents received death threats after the verdict.

"Does she have a family to go back to?" Paul said. "That's a major question."

He said Anthony has to work hard to rehabilitate her image, starting with showing remorse or grief over her daughter's death.

"She's infamous now," he said. "We still forgive people who do the right thing. She can change opinions based on her actions today."

The first step, Paul and others say, is to get out of the public eye and seek counseling.

Seattle psychologist Gregory Jantz said Anthony's experience puts her at risk of depression, anxiety and panic attacks.

"This is a girl who needs help," he said. He said Anthony may turn to addiction or return to the hard-partying lifestyle she led before her arrest as a way to numb her feelings.

Jantz said not just Anthony but also her parents and brother need counseling.

"It's a very dysfunctional family system that could explode," he said.

Staying out of the public eye may be hard to do.

Jantz said Anthony is likely to get offers to write a book and other media deals to share her story.

"She can benefit," he said.

Celebrity news website TMZ.com reported Wednesday that an adult entertainment company offered Anthony a deal to star in porn movies. Later, the site said Steve Hirsch, the chief of Vivid Entertainment, withdrew the offer.

Anthony was served a subpoena in jail Tuesday night to give a deposition in a defamation lawsuit filed by a woman named Zenaida Fernandez Gonzalez, CNN reported. Anthony had told police that Caylee had been taken by a nanny named Zenaida Gonzalez. The woman, who sued in 2008, said she had never met the Anthonys.

END

She will now have to live within her own private hell and so will her parents. What sort of life will they have now after so many deaths threats,

Where will Casey be able to live and on what, she has no money and will never be able to find a job for a very very long time? She will have to go into hiding and this will never be forgotten for years. That in itself will be her own private sentence.

There are no winners here. It was a dreadful dreadful death for that beautiful little girl
