Fight Information:
Former American Top-Team fighter JZ “Gesias” Cavalcante will be fighting in his first contest since leaving the team earlier this year. Despite fighting some of the top fighters on the planet, JZ’s losses in three of his past four fights prompted him to look for a new team. He will now be representing Imperial Athletics.
Cavalcante will have a difficult task in front of him when he fights former bodybuilder and NCAA Division I wrestler Justin Wilcox. Wilcox struggled early in his career, losing two of his first three fights, but then joined his college wrestling teammate Josh Koscheck at American Kickboxing Academy.
Things have been excellent for Wilcox since making that decision and he is currently riding a six fight win streak coming into Saturday night’s fight.
Fight Prediction:
JZ Cavalcante was once considered one of the top up-and-coming lightweights on the planet, but chronic knee injuries have halted what was once an extremely promising career.
At only 27 years old, he still has plenty of time to turn things around, but his lack of success has come primarily in fights that have gone to judges’ decisions.
Unfortunately for him, Wilcox has been a master of grinding out decisions, with eight of his 11 career victories coming on the judges’ scorecards. Worse yet, Wilcox has not yet lost a decision in his career.
