NOVAK DJOKOVIC IS THE MEN's WIMBLEDON CHAMPION 2014
:
6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 5-7, 6-4

Djokovic 6-4 Federer

Djokovic 5-4* Federer
Federer misses a huge chance to go 30-15 up, but miscues his smash down into the net. Cue a sigh of relief from Djokovic.
The seven-time champ, not for the first time today, serving to stay in the championship again.

Djokovic *4-4 Federer
These two are producing some outstanding tennis. Federer is down 15-40 but somehow recovers, Djokovic couldn't have played a better game without breaking. No tie-break this set remember... how much longer can these two keep this level up?

Djokovic 4-3* Federer
Great fighting spirit from Novak this time. He's concedes a break point but fight back brilliantly, roaring to the crowd in the first place. We're watching something special here.

Djokovic *3-3 Federer
167 total points each - you can't beat a competitive Wimbledon final! This is rivalling 2008's thriller. Federer lost out that occasion, but what today?

Djokovic 3-2* Federer
Federer seems to have all the shots at the moment, defending well as Djokovic looks to crank up the pressure. These two still have something left in the tank.

Djokovic *2-2 Federer
After that short break Federer gets right back down to business, serving to love. Entirely different body languages of the two players at the moment.

That medical time-out gives me a bit of time to reflect. In my view, this would be Federer's greatest title win by far should he clinch this match. Given the opponent, the length of match, and perhaps most importantly his age and form none of the seven others could compare.

Djokovic 2-1* Federer
Djokovic moving somewhat gingerly, and he calls for the trainer after that game. His serve brings him through, but it's a concern for the Serb.

Djokovic *1-1 Federer
Anything you can do, I can do better. It's been like that all day, and now Federer holds out to love, hitting his 28th ace of the match in the process.

FIFTH SET: Djokovic 1-0* Federer
Novak took a comfort break between those sets, maybe a good thing so he can recover mentally. Solid start to the fifth.

FEDERER WINS THE FOURTH SET 7-5

And he's done it! We're heading for a decider folks... who saw that coming?
I must say, I've never seen Federer serve as well as this. Another ace helps him along to a comfortable hold. Superb comeback from the seven-time champion.

Djokovic 5-6* Federer
Federer is on a roll! The crowd chant: "Roger, Roger" and he is channeling that support into a fine third set comeback. Four games in a row.
Now can he hold out... it's tough to predict.

Djokovic *5-5 Federer
The crowd want this fifth set... and so does Federer! An ace is crucial on championship point for Djokovic, and Federer sends down another for good measure at deuce.

Djokovic 5-4* Federer
Never rule out the seven-time champion! Federer forces his second break of the game and the match and produces some of his best tennis of the day.
Djokovic sent sprawling on that final point as Federer sweeps home a winner.

Djokovic *5-3 Federer
Federer holds his nerve. Now it's Novak's turn...

Djokovic 5-2* Federer
This has been a superb final, whatever the result - and the crowd are acknowledging that. Two of the longest rallies of the match in that last game, with the Serb holding on. He's on the brink...

Djokovic *4-2 Federer
Just when you think Federer is back in the match, sloppy errors cost him. We only had one break throughout the match, but now we've had three in a row.

Djokovic 3-2* Federer
Unbelievable from Federer! This final has got life in it yet! The crowd go wild as Federer huts a superb forehand into the far corner.
The mark of a champion.

Djokovic *3-1 Federer
This could well be the decisive moment in the set. Federer fights back from 0-40 but a loose forehand when an advantage down hands Djokovic the game. The 32-year-old looking slightly tired now.

Djokovic 2-1* Federer
But Novak isn't letting up. Incidentally, just two errors from Djokovic in the WHOLE of the third set.

FOURTH SET: Djokovic *1-1 Federer

Good start from Federer again. Djokovic takes another slight slip as he races for the ball, he gets up and looks OK though. He does like to throw his body around...

DJOKOVIC TAKES THE THIRD SET 7-6 (7-4)

Brilliant once again from Djokovic - this is the best tennis he's played all tournament. On top from start to finish in that tie-break, not giving Federer any chance to free his arms. Uphill challenge from Federer as he looks to make history today.

TIE-BREAK: Djokovic *4-2 Federer

At the change of ends, Djokovic takes the advantage. An ill-advised charge to the net from Federer goes against him. Can the Serb serve this one out?

Djokovic 6-6 Federer*
That's how Djokovic deals with the pressure! Comfortably holding, he's looking pumped up out there. So is Federer, so it should be another tight tie-break.

Djokovic *5-6 Federer
How good is this from Federer! Djokovic wastes two break points and the seven-time winner then sends down two aces at deuce (20 for the match now) to put the pressure back on Novak.

Djokovic 5-5* Federer
Superb from Djokovic. Some of his winners today have been sublime, and he hits three more in that game. Still just one break in this match so far.

Djokovic *4-5 Federer
40-0 again, this is easy! Djokovic now serving to stay in the set after Federer lands his 16th and 17th aces of the match.

Djokovic 4-4* Federer
But Novak retaliates with a 40-0! Still on serve here, and the statistics show how tight it is. Djokovic has 98 total points compared to Federer's 96.

Djokovic *3-4 Federer
40-15 again for Federer. His serve has barely been troubled in this third set.

Djokovic 3-3* Federer
Federer shaking his head throughout that game as a questionable over-rule from the umpire denies him a 30-0 lead. Novak again brings his a-game serves.

Djokovic *2-3 Federer
These games are rattling off in record time!
12 aces for Federer today now, seven for Djokovic.

DJOKOVIC WINS THE SECOND SET 6-4

Djokovic level! Federer forces his first break point of the match but the 2012 champion isn't having any of it. We're tied at one set apiece now, so this third set will be crucial.
Total points won: Djokovic 78 Federer 73

FEDERER WINS THE FIRST SET: 7-6 (9-7)

Remarkable from Federer. He may be nearly 33, but he looks to be in his prime out there. Saving a match point before firing down an ace, he then takes advantage of a loose second serve from Djokovic to force the error.
So little between them in that set.

Top shots (of all kinds) at Wimbledon today:

That's some row! David and Victoria Beckham, next to Samuel L Jackson

Plenty of famous faces at Wimbledon today

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and a galaxy of well-known faces from across sport and entertainment, including David Beckham and Samuel L Jackson, were heading to Wimbledon on Sunday for the men's final.
William and Kate headed the Royal Box list, which also featured the Duke of Kent, president of the All England Club.
Sporting stars included former England football captain Beckham, who was due to be accompanied by wife Victoria, cycling Olympic gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy and former Wimbledon champions Ashley Cooper, Roy Emerson, Neale Fraser, Jan Kodes, Rod Laver, Manuel Santana and Stan Smith.
From showbusiness, Hollywood actors Jackson, Bradley Cooper and Chris Hemsworth were also invited to take seats in the exclusive 74-seat box.

BATTLE OF THE COACHES:

MIKE DICKSON: Boris Becker and Stefan Edberg faced off 35 times in their career, with three of those being on this very same occasion. Now the rivalry rekindles itself by proxy, with their respective coaching charges Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer going for the ultimate prize.

It is a sweet coincidence that this will also be the 35th meeting between this afternoon’s finalists, although their career record against each other (18-16 to the Swiss) is much closer than the 25-10 superiority of the German over the Swede.
