Where he spotted Daniel Morcombe who had missed a bus, going christmas shopping Dec 2003, Brett Cowan pretended to be waiting for the same bus and offered Daniel a lift, he then took him to a deserted house where he was raped and his neck broken, the body dumped in a nearby creek.For the next 10 years Cowan denied any involvement.
He was caught by an elaborate sting, where he had to admit and"clear up" any past crimes, so he led under cover police posing as a crime gang, to where he killed Daniel.
Also admitting on video his sordid crime molesting Daniel.
He was scenteced to 20 years non parole, with instructions not to be believed in 20 years applying for parole.
