Libya Calls For Cease-Fire - Britain, Canada and France Prepare to Strike
Britain and France Prepare for Military action against Libya
March 18 - The UK is planning to deploy RAF Tornado and Typhoon fighters against Libya, while France has also voiced readiness to take military action against the Arab country , Aljazeera reported Friday.
The plan was announced by the British Prime Minister David Cameron shortly ago. The decision comes only one day after the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) voted to sanction a no-fly zone over Libya and all necessary measures - code for military action - to protect civilians.
France also voiced readiness to take action “within few hours” Friday. However, it did not specify any details on the form of the action.
10 members the UNSC sanctioned the Council’s March 17 decision against Libya. Russia, China, Germany, India and Brazil did not vote.
In response to the UNSC resolution, the embattled Libyan president, Muammar Gaddafi was said he does not recognize the resolution.
As for the potential military attacks on Libya, he was quoted as saying “If the world is crazy, we will be crazy too.” The president has also authorized “harsh crackdown” on the anti-government protesters.
