MMA Lyoto Machida's Brother Might Have KO of The Year With Brutal Flying Knee

Chinzo Machida

Chinzo Machida, in his first MMA fight in three years, finished his opponent with one of the most violent knockouts you'€™ll ever see.

Lyoto Machida has some highlight reel knockouts in the UFC. Rashad Evans would attest.

But the elder Machida brother outdid him Friday night.

In his return to the cage for the first time in three years, Chinzo Machida obliterated Brian Wood with a flying knee in the first round Friday night at RFA 11 in Broomfield, Colo.

Wood was immobilized for 20 minutes after the KO in a scary scene. Pat Miletich, who called the fight, said it was '€œthe most brutal knee to the face' he's ever seen live.

Chinzo, 36, is just 2-2 in MMA and his last fight before Friday was in 2010. He badly broke his hand in that loss to Leonardo Laiola and decided to focus on helping Lyoto reach the pinnacle of the UFC rather than fighting himself.

With his younger brother'€™s legacy established, Chinzo has returned to competing and man, it'€™s hard to have a better comeback bout than this one. It could be the knockout of the year.

Chinzo is a master at Shotokan karate, arguably better at it than his brother, though Lyoto, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, is much bigger in size. Chinzo fights at lightweight or featherweight.

He isn'€™t the first famous UFC sibling to ply his trade in RFA. Sergio Pettis, the younger brother of UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, was a champion in the organization before making his UFC debut last weekend at UFC 167 with a win over Will Campuzano.

Could Chinzo be on a path to the UFC? It might be a little premature to say that. But after his ridiculous KO of Wood, Lyoto'€™s big bro is certainly on the radar.
