SANTIAGO.- A 4.0 magnitude tremor panicked inhabitants at 9:20 p.m. Thursday, whose epicenter the USGS.gov Website placed at 18 kilometers from the city. As of 10 p.m. there were no reports of injuries.
The quake prompted many people to flee their homes in fear and others sought safer places, as the Web surfers had the social networks abuzz.
Santiago’s inhabitants live in fear as the northern plate’s fault line surrounds the north-central province, a constant threat to the country’s second biggest city.

Santo Domingo.- A 4.5 tremor was felt in the Dominican capital at 12:44 a.m. Friday, whose epicenter the U.S. Geodetic Survey located at 18.366°N latitude and 68.862°W longitude, or 10 kilometers east-southeast of the eastern city La Romana and 110 km (70 miles) east of the Dominican capital Santo Domingo.
It was felt in other Dominican cities and panicked many people who bolted from their sleep, but no damages or injuries have been reported.
The USGS said the quake’s depth was 166 kilometers.
