CNN) -- A 25-year-old snowboarder was buried when an ice tunnel collapsed on him in Oregon's Mount Hood.
Rescuers believe it's unlikely that Collin Backowski survived the collapse because of the amount of ice and snow that fell on him, the Hood River County Sheriff's Office said.
Backowski, of Pines, Colorado, was part of a group with six other snowboarders.
He had gotten further ahead of the group when the tunnel collapsed.
Two others were hit with debris, but not hurt.
The group tried to dig Backowski out, but could not break through the ice and snow.
Crews will resume their search for Backowski on Sunday morning.
