UFC 162 Medical Suspensions: Anderson Silva and 8 Others Given Time Off
July 9, 2013
The main event of this weekend's UFC 162, which took place at the the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev., saw Chris Weidman wrest the UFC middleweight title from the hands of Anderson Silva via a second round knockout.
The loss ended the 10-fight stranglehold Silva had on the UFC title, a title he earned with a first round technical knockout victory over Rich Franklin at UFC 64. The win extended Weidman’s unbeaten streak to 10 straight.
One of the final pieces of housekeeping from the event has been released, as the Nevada State Athletic Commission has issued the medical suspensions stemming from the event. A total of nine fighters, including Silva have been given time off.
