Box Office Report: Warm Bodies Kicks Off With $19.51 Million On Super Bowl Weekend.
On Super Bowl weekend,
Warm Bodies showed a bit of life; everything else had much in common with the walking dead. While it is difficult to estimate ticket sales on Super Bowl Sunday,
Lionsgate/
Summit Entertainment figured that the zombie movie would earn about $19.51 million over the weekend. Last week’s winner,
Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters dropped 53 percent to around $9.2 million, placing second.
Remarkably
Silver Linings Playbook slipped only 14 percent to remain in third place with about $8.11 million in its 12th — repeat 12th — week. As for
Sylvester Stallone’s latest — the poorly reviewed
Bullet to the Head — it was shot down as expected winding up with just $4.50 million, to place sixth. And the gangster spoof
Stand Up Guys appeared DOA as it opened in 659 theaters with just $1.50 million.
