Nanny Charged with Murder of Children in New York

New York.– Yoselyn Ortega, the Dominican nanny for the Krim family, was charged on Saturday with the murder of Marina and Kevin Krim's 2-year-old son Leo and 6-year-old daughter Lulu.

The two children were found stabbed and bleeding to death in the bath along with 50-year-old nanny nearby who failed to kill herself by slitting her own throat.
"Yoselyn Ortega, age 50, was tonight arrested and charged with two counts each of murder in the first and second degrees in the stabbing deaths on October 25 of two children in her care, Lucia Krim, 6, and her brother, Leo, who would have turned 2 years of age five days later on October 30," New York Deputy Police Commissioner Paul Browne said in a statement.
Ortega, a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in the Dominican Republic, worked for the Krim family for two years and had been referred to them by another family, Browne said.
Authorities said the children's father, a CNBC executive, was on a business trip in San Francisco at the time of the murders. He flew home that night, and police rushed him to his family.
While recovering from her self-inflicted stab wounds police said they were finally able to interview 50-year-old Yoselyn Ortega permitting their charges of two counts each of first- and second-degree murder on Saturday.
Police say Ortega fatally stabbed 6-year-old Lucia Krim and her 2-year-old brother, Leo, on Oct. 25 in the children's Upper West Side apartment.

A third sibling was with their mother when the killings happened. The mother returned home to discover her children dead and Ortega bleeding.
Ortega remains hospitalized under police guard.
After waking up from her coma, Ortega told police that she was angry because the family wanted her to clean as well as look after the children.
