Trump Launches FURIOUS Attack on Supreme Court After Tariff Ruling -Countries WILL PAY

Trumps sweeping new tariffs for ALL countries will take effect in just days as White House reveals exemptions for certain products... after presidents attack on Supreme Court

MailOnline 21 FEB 2026

The Supreme Court delivered a significant setback to President Donald Trump on Friday, ruling that he exceeded his constitutional authority when imposing broad tariffs under emergency powers legislation.

The justices voted 6/3 that Trumps tariff approach violated the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, a 1977 law governing presidential emergency authority over economic matters.

Chief Justice John Roberts authored the majority opinion, joined by three liberal justices and two conservative colleagues, Justices Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett.

Roberts stated The president asserts the extraordinary power to unilaterally impose tariffs of unlimited amount, duration and scope. He noted that the Trump administration points to no statute in which Congress previously authorized IEEPA language to apply to tariffs.

Justices Clarence Thomas, Brett Kavanaugh, and Samuel Alito dissented.

He lamented that the decision is nonsensical, claiming that the Court admitted he can do anything he wants as president other than charge other countries tariffs for US goods.

Im allowed to destroy the country, but I cant charge them a little fee, Trump complained. I can do anything I want to do to them, but I cant charge any money.

Trump threatened using powerful alternatives to his tariffs as a way to ensure the US takes in more money from foreign countries, and said he would sign a 10 percent global tariff on Friday after his briefing.
